My mom asked if we wanted to come stay with her in Maine for a few weeks

Because of the "overwhelming, life-threatening, record breaking heat" we are having in shreveport.
She lived in baton rouge for nearly 10 years and shreveport for over 40 years and retired to Maine 5 years ago.
I told her it is July, and it is just as hot now as when I was a kid. Actually, it feels cooler now because the hole in the ozone layer isn't a problem now.
Yes, she is a masked covidian. Nothing I say changes her mind, even factual data.
She changed the conversation when I told her we were going to buy some camels to get around town in.

Tell her she is living in the past. The ocean is dying and when those currents slow down maybe she can come live with you so she won't freeze.

I have a complaint about your college. About 30 years ago I had an event at CC and went early to look around.
I walked into the library and there was an older lady at the desk but no students at all.
I asked her if I could use a computer to check my email. She said "NO". I told her I was an alum and she said "It doesn't matter. Only current students are allowed."
Then I walked into the new gym that did not exist when I was a student. I asked the young girl at the desk if I could work out. She said "Sure, alums are always welcome."
The experience confirmed my belief that the teenage girls who were hippies during the 60s are now the old lady librarians. And they're bitter.

My parents and In laws are straight conservatives.
