I think it was shown how he was in the White House and didn’t do anything while, while things were going on. He should have come out more forcefully, of course, that.

- Rob DeSantis.

And I want to point out that they are both WRONG

Contrary to DeSantis’s claims, Trump issued a video statement on Twitter during the disorder, urging protesters: “[Y]ou have to go home now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order. We have to respect our great people in law and order.”

Twitter took down the video and permanently suspended Trump’s account. The video was not restored even after Elon Musk reinstated the account, though it can still be viewed in the Miller Center presidential archive.

Harvey Milk said a lot of the same things as DJT.

So what.

Legally, I don’t think Trump had to say anything.

Politically, it’s hard to say. It’s tough to walk the line of trying to do the “right” thing without impliedly accepting responsibility for it.

As a normal adult with common sense and decency, frick yeah he should have at least tried to send the message out earlier and more emphatically to back down.

Those are not the same statement. I'm starting to think you are a Democrat since you continuously choose to call out the extreme right instead of the left.

He said that’s not a criminal thing but that’s what he should have done.

I’ll do one further. I said it at the time and I’ll say it now.

He should have never called for anyone to go to DC on Jan 6 and should have never riled them up.

He didn’t believe what he was saying but his followers will buy anything he says

Even if he did believe it that was the biggest set up of all time and he had them walk right into it

That should have been done as soon as people were seen charging the building. When was it actually done? Minutes or hours after breach?

Why are you intentionally leaving this off?

quote:

“So look, there’s a difference between being brought up on criminal charges and doing things like, for example, I think it was shown how he was in the White House and didn’t do anything while, while things were going on. He should have come out more forcefully, of course, that. But to try to criminalize that, that’s a different issue entirely, and I think that we want to be in a situation where, you know, you don’t have one side just constantly trying to put the other side in jail. And that unfortunately is what we’re seeing now.”

You're just spamming the board now. It was in the other thread and you still left it out.

I strongly believe in personal responsibility so I will never say Trump caused his supporters to get imprisoned or shot that day. But if he would have acted like an honest adult and not as a revolutionary cosplayer, those things probably wouldn’t have happened.

The biggest mistake the right ever made was not supporting the J6ers. 99.9% of these people were peaceful but they've been treated like enemies of the US.

DeSantis literally said that Trump didn't do anything criminal and that the entire process against him is wrong.

Now if you think Trump acted completely perfectly that day and was without flaws that's fine I guess but he could have handled the situation better. That's all he said and any sane person agrees with him. He is also correct that not handling things as well as you could have is not illegal or criminal.

Liz Cheney OTOH wants Trump to die in prison and if you let Biden or Newsom win instead of letting DeSantis beat them they will likely get their wish.

Same talking point and it's why people are blowing up social media condemning Desantis as I type.

The reason people are blowing up social media is because of the red sunglasses Cult45 wear over their blue faces.

I am speaking to a specific point made by DeSantis.

Note, I didn;t mention his SS stance either.

Not spamming anything.

They both stated the same talking point.

I think about this a lot. After getting set up by the intel agencies on Russiagate and the Ukraine nonsense, how could he be so stupid not to realize J6 was a trap? Even if it wasn't criminal, it was reckless and stupid and got people's hopes up that he had some smoking gun.

I didn't have a problem with some of the legal challenges, but he should have called off the dogs and conceded around Christmas. What did people want to happen after J6? Six month audits? Imagine if Hillary did the same thing.
