Rory making history

Rory is the only player to win the Irish, Scottish, and British Opens.
He could tie Phil’s feat of winning the Scottish and British in the same year. Phil did it in 2013.
Can Rory do it? He and Scottie Scheffler are tied in Vegas odds at +700 (DK)
I personally boosted his odds (free on DK) to +1000 and made a bet. He’s playing exceptional right now.

He’s played exceptional every year since 2014, but can’t win a major. I don’t think he gets it done

He can do it if his putter doesn't betray him.

2015-2021 only 6 top 5 in majors
2022 and 2023 alone- 4 top 5 in majors
The last two years he is clearly different than the previous 6 across the board for him

Top 5 is quite the standard.
He’s finished Top 10 in 2 of 4 majors every year since 2014. That’s pretty exceptional, but yeah he finished Top 10 6 of the last 7.

He has still been top 10 in the world since 2015, but his recent 2 years he has found a different (or previous gear)

The last month he’s back to his best form.

best form.
Rory is a GIR machine.
IF he can get a hot putter, he could win bigly.
Of course, the winner often has a smoking hot putter.

Easy feat when 40 PGA pros departed for LIV which has allowed for this pseudo comeback.

Yes, because 40 of them are even remotely close to the level of Rory. No matter to conversation people still bring this idiotic LIV stuff in it.

You could have made a lot of money betting against Rory in majors in the last 9 years. There’s a lot of scar tissue built up and Rory seems like someone who is always acutely aware of his history and overall surroundings, which is not a good thing in high pressure situations. I think for him to win he will have to do it going away, which he is certainly capable of. I think it’s unlikely he wins it with clutch play on Sunday

I’ve never been the biggest Rory fan (not a hater either), but I’ll admit I didn’t realize this was the same course where he won The Open in 2014.
I might hedge my other bets & put $10 on Rory just in case he pulls it off. I’m more confident in Cam defending though, especially after last years final round.

This is just dumb.

Yep lucky for Rory that Pat Perez and Hudson Swafford are no longer in his way.

Remind me, did a healthy tiger or Jack go 9 years without winning a major in their prime? Not even close.
Between 1962 and 1975, the longest Jack went without winning a major was 3 years, 1968-1970.
Between 1997 and 2008, Tiger’s longest drought was 2 years in 2003-2004.

Rory isn’t as good as the two best golfers ever. Great read. Thanks for posting
So you have provided us with the knowledge taking the field vs a single golfer is a good bet, and, Rory isn’t as good as tiger or jack

You’re the one who brought up Jack and Tiger

Let’s look at some more:
Gary Player ‘59-78: 3 years
Tom Watson ‘75-83: 1 year
Byron Nelson ‘37-45: 2 years
Sam Snead ‘42-54: 3 years
Palmer ‘58-64: 1 year
Faldo 87-96: 3 years
Mickelson ‘04-13: 3 years
These are only the people I researched.
None more than 3 years and Rory is a week away from 9. Maybe pull your head out of the sand

I think Rory has been a bit shook in the majors but to you cant compare the competition back then to what it is now. You’re listing Mickelson who didn’t even win his first major until age 36 or so. People act like Rory isn’t winning. He’s just not winning majors. He’s won the FedEx cup twice in the last 3 years i believe.
