I have dallisgrass in my St. Aug what is the best weed killer to get rid of it along with other weeds? Also if I apply it around mid October as a pre emergent would I re apply the weed killer around early March so overseed in early April and finally fertilize around mid-May?

Glyphosate (Roundup)

Roundup and sod patch. I’ve been meaning to do it myself but keep putting it off.

You got a little bit of learning to do. I’m not being an arse, this is to help. You can’t kill Dallisgrass in st aug without killing the st aug. Dig or spray glyphosate. Only options. Don’t try anything you’ve seen on a YouTube video.
It seems you think pre em and post em are the same thing by the if I apply it by mid October as a pre em comment. Most herbicides or either pre or post with the exception of atrazine and dithiopyr. That being said no pre em will work on Dallisgrass as it is a perennial.
Lastly you said you have st aug which isn’t viable by seed and only grows vegetatively.
Kill the Dallisgrass and fert your st aug. If the dead sections are the size of a square of sod the go to a sod farm and buy a few squares.

I bought a “Grampas Weed Puller” from Amazon. It’s kind of a pain in the arse because dallisgrass root system is so spread out, but I tried the roundup method and it all came back. This method seems to work so far and I’ll likely have to fill in holes with dirt and reseed. My biggest problem at the moment is my back yard deciding if it wants to be Bermuda or centipede

Yes I am not really familiar with dalligrass as it has just shown up this past spring. I will try the glysophate. Finally I guess using pre and post emergent was bad wording all I meant by that was apply in the fall and spring. Thank you for the help

I have been pulling it out along with a couple of crabgrass patches. Just trying to explore chemical options I cannot find on the internet

Yes applying pre-emergent herbicide in the fall and spring will significantly reduce the occurrence of numerous broadleaf and grassy lawn weeds, but as ronk stated not perennial weeds like Dallisgrass, Virginia Buttonweed, sedges and some others.
Good info on this on the 1st page of the stickied lawn tread at the top of the page. You did not say where you are located, but timing is important to get max benefit from the pre-emergent herbicides as you want to apply them before cool season weed seeds germinate in fall and before spring/summer weed seeds germinate in late winter/spring. For south LA that would be mid-Sept/mid-Oct, then again early-to mid-Feb.

Wait I did the pointing up finger emoji to say that craw was right on and it comes out as double question marks?

What pre-emergent herbicides do you, ronk, and 419 recommend? This would be on 4 month old Bermuda assuming I do it in September / October this year.
Thanks fellas.
Thanks fellas.

Specticle in the fall and barricade in the spring. Active ingredient in barricade is prodiamine.
No, 419, not the bird.

Does MSMA kill Dallisgrass or just suppress it? I have Bermuda and centipede in my yard. It’s my understanding that I can’t use MSMA in the centipede side.

Yes, if it is 4 months old now it will be 7 months old or so by the time you put it out. The only reason I wouldn't put it out is if my lawn was weak and thin.

MSMA will kill dallisgrass, St Aug, and centipede. Just for professional reasons I'll note that MSMA isn't labeled for residential lawns.
