According to our trusted and proven sources, Tom Cruise and Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski are collaborating once more on Days of Thunder 2. They first worked together on the 2013 post-apocalyptic adventure film Oblivion.
That Tom Cruise wants to make Days of Thunder 2 could in part explain something from a story The Hollywood Reporter published last March. The outlet reported that Cruise was locked in a legal battle with Paramount over the release of Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, Part One.
Among the issues Cruise and Paramount had allegedly locked horns over, THR said Cruise had given a thumbs down to the studio’s pitches for two streaming series: one based on Days of Thunder, and the other spinning out of the Mission: Impossible films.
Considering what we’ve learned, it’s tempting to speculate that — assuming THR’s report was accurate — Tom Cruise may have said no to the Days of Thunder series because of the possibility of a Days of Thunder 2.
With Days of Thunder 2 still in development, there’s no word on which, if any, of Tom Cruise’s surviving Days of Thunder co-stars might join him for the sequel. When we know, we’ll make sure you know.

Go to Britain and make it an F1 film.

I've never been able to get into car racing movies other than Talladega Nights.

I just saw a video on Twitter the other day with Brad Pitt and some other guy walking around in f1 gear. That’s all I know about it though.
ETA:
It’s also a movie by Joseph Kosinski

I’m sure AI could easily write a script for a movie that 3 dozen people want to see

If Tom Cruise is listening...there is only one sequel/spinoff I need from one of his movies after Maverick that I would be first in line to see if he ever decided to do it

Days of Thunder is an under appreciated movie. I’d love to see a good sequel.

The other guy is Damson Idris. He was the star of a TV show called Snowfall. Really good show about the crack epidemic and the CIA.

Days of Thunder is just Top Gun all over again, but with race cars and less gay

The first hour of Days of Thunder is a good as any action spectacular ever made.
Once Kidman hits the film, it nosedives into will Smith's "Concussion" until the last 20 mins.
It's still one of the most absolutely rewatchable pictures ever and one of the most beautifully shot movies of its time, however.
I dearly miss this long primes and hazy neons and golden hours on celluloid. Tony Scott's 80s and 90s setup, atmospheric snd establishing shots were paintings.

Can we skip to the part where Cruise revisits the most interesting part of his career circa the mid-late 90s? I want to see him take another swing like Magnolia or eyes wide shut

Pitt makes me think of Lemans with McQueen. Maybe it's time for him to do a Steve McQueen biopic.

DT2 can only end with Cole dying beating a young upstart... You know, how TG2 should have ended.

He'll likely never make a film like that ever again. After the Couch episode 15 yrs ago, he went full Jackie Chan and hasn't looked back. He only did Tropic Thunder as a PR repair move.

Cole Trickle is a great movie name.

Doubt Kidman would be in for this.
Honestly a series sounds more interesting where Tom has a limited part of it to me.
Cole Trickle would have moved on and wouldn’t be a lifer in NASCAR. He wouldn’t have done a Gordon career.
