For those that follow closer, why are teams sending their B squads to this tournament? I thought the gold cup used to be a pretty big deal for CONCACAF

I assume this was closer to preseason for the Europe guys so they played the earlier Nations league instead.

Because 4 teams (US, Mexico, Canada and Panama) played in Nations League 3 weeks ago. USA and Canada called up their European players for those two matches and gave them the Gold Cup off because they need a break after a long season that involved the World Cup in the middle of it.
Jamaica has the most talented team in the field because they brought in all of their EPL guys.
