House we bought has a microwave/vent hood combo over the range. Bleah.

I'm bewildered by the array of under-cabinet range hoods available. Not looking to remodel...I'd rather remove micro/hood and replace with a real vent hood.

ZLine looks pretty good. Broan doesn't.

I would try as much as possible to match the brand of my other appliances.

We put GE Profile appliances in our kitchen. Available at Lowes and Home Depot. Other places too.

I really liked our hood and it will do a 100% turnover in our kitchen very quickly on the highest of 4 available speeds.

GE Profile is a great line with reasonable price.

Consider the type of cooking you're going to do when purchasing. I have a Kitchen Aid gas stove top with a gas grill in the middle. It can produce a good bit of smoke so I bought a commercial strength Kitchen Aid vent that works like a charm. I've had it about 10 years.

I have been extremely happy with Vent-a-hood, for the last 18 years.

I have a proline wall chimney that works great even for smoking hot sears.
