Literally nothing in the post you quoted is overstatement.

Hell, it's super common practice. They've actually developed intentional tools to get around the court decision. That's not some theory. It's being done all over the nation.

And they can because 50% of the nation gives them a pass.

Let's at least be honest here people. In situations without video..........we all(me included) used to pretty much believe cops all the time. Especially if the citizen was shaky looking.

The ONLY time most conservatives don't take the word of the cops as Gospel is when shite gets caught on camera that can't be overlooked.

And again, disregard CNN. They don't care about police, they care about race narrative. The worst videos of police behavior rarely make it to the evening news.

LOL
That one slipped right by me.

Yeah. This has nothing to do with the election. And hell, even if it did, pretty much all of our "leaders" let us down in the area of freedom and, cops everywhere from the most liberal to the most conservative places enforced absolute bullshite without question.

Ya know why? Becauses the only difference between American cops and those that existed in the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, N. Korea etc is that they haven't been given the horrible orders yet.

But make no mistake. They'd follow them.

Link?

Also, I’m smelling pot on the interstate these days. People are smoking in their cars more than ever.

My point was that establishment GOP supporters question absolutely nothing and believe whatever the government tells them. That's why they blindly support cops even after they enforced covid mandates, ruined small businesses, arrested mother's for letting their kids play at the park, etc.

Was at a 4 way stop once and the cop was to my due south. Pulls me over bc he “smelled something funny” coming from my car.

I laugh.

He asks why I’m laughing. Told him he was full of shite and that this was an illegal stop. He asked to search, I told him to get a warrant.

He told me to have a good day. Always hoped that mf’er would’ve gotten kneecapped bc I wasn’t the only one in my family he did this too.

I’m souring on cops lately sadly and I wish I weren’t. Hopefully that changes bc I still very much support them.

What opened my eyes to cops more than any other single thing was being on a gun forum with a large LE presence. It's anonymous like most forums, and they could be honest. Most of them suck.

"I don't care, I'm going home safe"
"You might beat the rap, but not the ride"
"Unless you're a cop, you just don't know"
"Hell yeah, if I'm late to something (personal) I'm hitting the lights. frick traffic"

A response so common the mods had to ban it, when talking about any situation in which a civilian got shot, was "oh well". When "civilians" used it in response to a cop getting shot, they typically got a time out or permaban.

Their number one response to people complaining about a ticket was "stop speeding, a-hole". In a thread about what they liked most about being a cop, the #1 (it may have been #2) response was being able to drive as fast as they want.

Which is why they are all fricking cowards. The lot of them unless they rebuke this line of thinking.

quote:

"You might beat the rap, but not the ride"

Qualified Immunity spoken out loud. "Meh, I can frick with you and inconvenience you and for me, that's a win no matter what happens in court because at heart, I'm just a fricking bully"

quote:

"Unless you're a cop, you just don't know"

"Oh my God, my job is sooooo hard. YOU wouldn't do it, so, that justfies basically any behavior I might manifest! Besides, you're gonna call me if you need help, so that means I should never be questioned".

quote:

"Hell yeah, if I'm late to something (personal) I'm hitting the lights. frick traffic"

Just the tip of the "laws don't apply to LE" attitude.

Yup.

And ya know. If they want to use that lie to pull me out of the car to check me, THAT is annoying.

Using the "smell" lie to search my car is a "you deserve to be shot no matter what uniform you wear" action.

Hey. I remembered another one for the list.

"Yes, I could tell you why I pulled you over before you give me all your paperwork, but then, I couldn't show you I have control over you by refusing to even though there is literally no functional reason I couldn't just tell you".

Cameras were probably the #2 factor. That one in NY when 2 cops hit a parked car then blamed it on the guy that was sitting in it at the time and arrested him was eye opening. He claimed one of them even said "sorry man, but I'm not losing pay over this". Had it not been captured by an external camera, I think it was somebody's porch cam, the guy would have been screwed.

Yep. A video that demonstrates 3 of my favorites.

1)The stupid fricks don't know how trespass laws are not the same for public vs private property. Hell, they don't know the difference between public and private property!

2. They think any words that pass their lips are "lawful orders".

3. "Obstructing"! The universal "we got jack shite" charge that is dismissed so damned often it can barely be called a law. This is the whole, "yeah, we know we're full of shite and you're going to be let out, we still get to kidnap you for a period of time which satisfies our need to prove WEE own you".

What opened my eyes was getting to know some officers and a friend of mine friend becoming a judge.

Being in that position changes people, and it does so in ways that they often don't even realize.

I don't care what people say about the Stanford Experiment having been debunked, I've seen it with my own eyes.

People who can be above the law and escape consequences that others wouldn't—to whatever degree their position affords them the opportunity to do so—will act above the law. It's apparently hardwired into basic human psychology.

For me, the tipping point was an accumulation.

Because sure, MANY things the press cried about turned out be race baiting bull shite.

However, I noticed something that couldn't be ignored.

There were still at least a solid handful of cases where the initial story the cops told just turned out to be flagrant bull shite and initially, there was no public camera footage. And in 100%, not 99%, 100% of the cases, it was NEVER the other cops on scene that spilled the beans. Or even the leadership who may have had body cam footage.

In those cases where video came out LATER and the cops turned out to have been lying, it 100% of the time took the video. Not other cops. Not the leadership. The video.

I once said, "ya know what would be nice? It would be nice if JUST ONCE, the way I found out about police misconduct on scene was from other police officers".

And this is why the "bad apples" rhetoric is dumb.

HUMANS, given power, will use that power. And, if you give humans power PLUS tell them they will largely not be questioned for how they apply it, you get inevitable results.

Policing will never get better, no matter what policies are put into place, until the public stops treating them like Gods. And right now, too large a segment of the publicl still does so.
