Here's why he starts Skenes

If he starts Skenes tonight and the wheels fall off nobody will criticize him for it. It was the higher percentage decision, it just didn't work out. If he holds Skenes back and the wheels fall off, fans will be on the warpath until Kelly does something next fall to piss everybody off and make them forget about it.

I believe this is Johnson's exact mindset and why it is highly likely that Skenes starts. I also believe the best decision for Jay's job security is not the best decision for LSU's title hopes.

I really hope our coach isn't making decisions out of fear of what the fans are going to say.
You start Skenes because he has the most rest of anyone worth a damn on the staff and it gives you the best chance to make the finals. Nuff said.

Jay is one of the best young coaches in the game if not the best. He ain’t worried about his job. He’ll be at LSU a long time if he wants to and LSU is lucky to have him. Woodward made a great hire.

We are out of pitchers anyway. He is the one pitcher with most days' rest. Yesterday, we were lucky to have Herring, or we were fuk'd. They were going to get to Cooper(you could tell coop was tired). Luckily, it was the 8/9 innings.
Lsu can beat fla without Skenes. Their staff , well, lsu is.used to seeing this type of pitching

Jesus. Skenes has only pitched one game in Omaha and we’ve won 3 and the only loss we gave up 3 runs. The pitching staff has proven that they can match anyone so you don’t need to save skenes for a specific situation. Tonight is a win or go home game so you don’t play for tomorrow you play the lineup that gives you the best chance to win.

I don’t get why everyone is obsessed with breaking down all these obscene reasons he will start. JJ is gonna start Skenes cause he’s the best fricking pitcher in college and we are in a win or go home situation and he has had 4 complete days of rest. It’s not his normal test but it’s enough. It does not get any more complicated than that. Y’all get ya heads too damn much.

johnson doesn’t make decisions based on criticism. that’s pretty consistent.
