I was hoping for a little OT help. I have a 2014 Honda Pilot 87K miles. Recently the ABS light, Stability Traction control light, and brake light turn on after about twenty minutes of driving. I took it by my mechanic, and he thought it might be a switch which he said would be very expensive to replace and I would need to go to Honda. Has anyone had anything similar to this? The brakes do seem to be working okay at this time.

Probably one of the abs sensors. When one fails, you usually get all three warnings. And those are not expensive.

Did you turn it off for 30 seconds and power back on?

Sounds like a possible wheel speed sensor. Did your cruise control also stop working at the same time?

Take to Honda and let them run diagnostic test.

Sounds like it could be one of the ABS sensors. If the sensor is not clean it can cause this. I had this problem before

Honda’s are notorious for failing vehicle stability modulators. It causes the dash to light up (ABS, Power Steering, etc.) but doesn’t effect vehicle performance. May want to check it. It’s about a $1,200 repair after a long wait to receive the part.

Sounds like a bad sensor.

When is the last time your battery was changed? Hondas and Acuras can display multiple vehicle messages and rotate through them when the battery is dieing. None of them have anything to do with the battery.

I’ve got a 2013 Pilot. I have a very similar problem, but mine is with the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) light. Light comes and goes, but I keep a close eye on my tire pressure, and it’s always within a pound or two of the suggested pressure. I, too, was told they could fix it, but the annoyance wasn’t worth the price. I live with it.

As a side note, my wife drives a 2017 CR-V, and her TPMS light has just recently started to malfunction the same way my Pilot does.

Did you get 87k miles on your first set of brakes?

Have them scan it and check your wheel speed sensors

Then you need a new mechanic. Bring it to Quality Car Care off of North Harrell's Ferry. Not the best part of town, but an honest shop that will not kill you on pricing.

My wife had a 2013 and it did the same thing. We brought it in and they changed out some sensor. Wasn't very pricey at all.
