Hiking Fourteeners - Mt Democrat or Mt Sherman

Has anyone hiked either of these Colorado mountains? I have two fourteeners under my belt, Mt Quandary and Evans, and I'm looking to add a third this summer.
Close proximity to Breckenridge is the critical factor as I don't want to leave the wife and kids for more than roughly 6 hours roundtrip. Both of these seem doable in that time frame even with the drive there and back.

Democrat, Lincoln, and Bross are all closed as access to them lies on private land (ultimately a liability issue). Haven't done Sherman yet, but its considered one of the "easier" 14ers in the state.
You might consider Bierstadt - the trailhead is at the top of Guanella Pass which is about an hour from Breck. Bierstadt is one of the easier 14ers by 14ers standards.

You are right. I'm seeing there's another 14'er Mt Cameron on the same route as Mt Lincoln that is still open / accessible. That one seems like it could be an option.
I'll check out Bierstadt too.

You won't be able to access Cameron as both directions (counterclockwise to Bross or clockwise towards Democrat) cross private land.

Are you 100% certain? On the 14er website it shows Mt Cameron as open, but the other three (Lincoln, Democrat, Bross) have a warning that you cannot summit due to the private landowner issue.
It appears it just impacts the summit of those three, not the entire hike. Here is a quote from the website - "It's happening again. For summer, 2023, a private landowner has closed access to the upper portions of Lincoln, Democrat and Bross. Much of the land in the area, including the Kite Lake trailhead, is public but because the trail goes through sections owned by this landowner, they have the right to refuse access."
From what I can tell on 14er website, you summit Cameron on your want to Lincoln. So Cameron is still open. After you summit Cameron, the standard route is to make your way down a saddle and into the area that is considered private for Lincoln (making a loop back to the starting trailhead in the process).
So my take is you can still summit Cameron in an out-and-back manner. There is no disclaimer / warning about the private land owner issue on the Mt Cameron page.

Im pretty sure only Bross has the private land issue. A family of geologists have the land and kept a bunch of samples in some shacks they had.
Their stuff got fricked with too much and closed access. You can still do the rest of the route, as far as I know
Sherman is easy, getting back to the OP. Park Co side is easier.

I've done both. Neither are hard, but Sherman is easier. Its also pretty "meh" as far as 14ers go. Hard to beat for a quick round trip from Breckenridge though if you've already done Quandry.

someone mentioned Bierstadt, look at Grays and Torrys as well; they're slightly closer to Breck and there's a saddle between them so it's common to bag both in the same climb.

Do Grays and Torreys. We did a full moon ascent without needing headlamps, caught sunrise on Grays, then bagged Torreys after a snack and sunrise on Grays.
Combo standard route LINK
after leaving Torreys summit, you go back down the saddle back towards Grays, but not all the way up the peak again. You'll cut lower across the face of Grays to catch up with the original trail and make your way back down from there. If there's still a snowfield on that face, glissading is fun and saves some time/steps, if you know how to glissade and stop. If you don't know how to stop and slide through the end of the snowfield into the rocks, you're gonna have a bad time.
I've done DeCaLiBron, great hike and views, but it sounds like landowner issues are now greater than just trying bag Bross.
I've also done Sherman one July 4th about 7-8 years ago. Easy hike, views aren't bad. We had some weather moving in and really didn't stay up top for long.

Mt Princeton is an easy one if you want a more relaxed hike. Scrambling and a pretty steep pitch at the end but a beginner hike if altitude adjusted. Park in St Elmos. Great views and nearby hot springs. Not a notable hike but nice and scenic and one I enjoyed. I love that area-the Ivys.

Princeton is a great hike but puts him a decent bit away from Breck.
Cant argue the hot springs though.

Thanks all. I’m now considering this. What’s the actual hiking time expected for someone in very good shape (mid 30’s)? I need to be out the door and back in roughly 7 hours or less.
