Slow down a bit.

Skenes is an absolute unit, but I don’t know that there will ever be another Nolan Ryan.

I’ve read a few times that if radar guns of today were to be used, he’d have touched 105-106 multiple times.

Not sure why you're getting down votes. He's very similar in that he can throw in the 100s no matter how many pitches he's already thrown. It's very impressive. Can he do it in MLB? Who knows. But, he is very similar.

Skenes is better than Ryan at his age. Ryan didn’t have a pitching coach until ‘71 when he got to the Angels. When he became a true “pitcher” wasn’t until about ‘79.

For the record, they had to calculate the velocity after they picked up the ball. I believe it was about 10’ from the plate and that was calculated to be 108. There is little doubt that Trackman has changed metrics and analytics.
His last pitch at 47 was 98… 5714 Ks later. Never will be another guy like him.

Ryan holds 51 total MLB records, including:

5,714 career strikeouts (next-most is Randy Johnson with 4,875)
7 career no-hitters (next-most is Sandy Koufax with 4)
Lowest career batting average allowed (minimum 1,500 innings pitched): .204
12 career 1-hitters, tied with Bob Feller
18 career 2-hitters
31 career 3-hitters
15 200-strikeout seasons
6 300-strikeout seasons

You’ll also read that many are skeptical if 106 is even possible. No one has ever done it.

Imagine what Skenes hits when he’s fully developed as a man at age 27/28 years old.

Agreed…..BUT I will say this Skenes is the only college or high school pitcher I’ve ever seen that I’ve said maybe he can get to Nolan’s level in the bigs. I mean imagine if MLB pitching coaches can develop Skenes like they’ve developed Nola and Gausman. I mean he certainly has the potential to get to Ryan’s level…..but again let’s see what he does in the bigs.

If you read what the topic is clearly saying, its saying that Skenes is the closest thing

…..which means not Nolan Ryan
