Disney’s Affordable Housing Project in Orlando Takes Step Forward

According to the Orlando Business Journal, Disney’s affordable housing complex which has an opening timeline of 2026 has filed for rezoning permits.
Walt Disney Imagineering applied on June 13 to “request to rezone 114 acres to planned development to make way for the apartment community.” The apartment complex is being developed by The Michaels Organization, and the rezoning permit would allow for the community to have a maximum of 1,450 units.
The request also tells us that Disney is looking to have the complex be a maximum of 5 stories and that it will “target incomes in the 50-100% AMI (area median income) range” in the Orlando area, which fluctuates depending on how many members there are in the family.
Although the project is still in the early stages, we know that the housing will be located a few miles away from the Magic Kingdom, near schools and the Flamingo Crossings Town Center.
How long before it goes down hill and becomes section 8?

This just means we’ll get to see more Disney-fights on WorldStar

Is that not what affordable housing is

Why don't they take that overpriced Star Wars bullshite hotel they just closed down and repurpose it?

That was a disaster from the beginning and can’t believe people spent money on that

My business partner brought his family and they seemed to have a good time
The photos and videos were pretty cool.

They are already clearing land to widen Avalon road to handle the extra traffic this will cause on Disney property. For err'body on 192 or I-4, sorry about your luck. More traffic on roads from 2005. Don't let the extra 5 million people since then bother you when you are sitting in traffic /

It may be cool, but at the end of the day you're paying thousands of dollars for two nights at a hotel that you literally are not allowed to leave.
It was way overpriced for what it is, and was doomed from the start.

This seems to be the way of the world now. Every single new property we are dealing with at work is tax credit or senior living tax credit…

But but but but but according to looney left wing progressive nut jobs, they actually think Disney should pack up and leave Orlando and open Disney World up in a different state!

I just got back from Disney/Universal and we had a great time! We will be going back (flying next time) when Universal Epic Universe opens up. We stayed one day at Universal Sapphire Falls resort and the rest of the time at Disney Pop Century resort. Only thing sucked was traffic and getting in a wreck right in front of The Village bridge on our way back….
Edit: I’m just realizing you were talking about the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. I misunderstood and thought that you were talking about Disney World.

They’re turning the Star Wars hotel into section 8

It’s going to be for its employees. Literal serfdom. Employees will be too scared to strike or ask for more money in fear they will lose housing. Not section 8, just future housing for under paid people.
