Richard Pryor.

I love him as a comedic actor, but his stand up just isn't very funny to me. I think the cursing was shocking at the time, which is why he did so well. Also his impersonations are fantastic; however, I listened to That Ni...'s Crazy recently, and it didn't strike very many laughs out of me. 14yo me loved it, but again I think it struck that "cursing is funny" side of my teenage brain.

Eddie Murphy was hilarious though. His standups are ridiculously funny, and they didn't feel like being funny just because he cursed.

Him talking about Bill Cosby and Pryors reactions to his stand up are complete gold.

In his day, one of the funniest humans alive. Tapes, not pod cast or cds, listening to Black man meets Dracula etc. was belly laugh hilarious. His profanity was cutting edge and fit him. All black comedians tried to emulate him, but most just cussed thinking that was funny instead of having funny jokes. Like great music, the best comedy came from that era, before the counter culture was usurped by the cancel culture.

I love Richard Pryor, but I'll say that the bulk of his work isn't anything noteworthy. He's definitely a "greatest hits" type of comedian.

Also, Joe Rogan's stand up isn't really funny
