Looks like this old Lafayette establishment will be closing at the end of the month.
Anyone have any good stories about this place?

That is sad. The food is usually solid. However, the condition of the place is pretty bad. There is a fine line between rustic and dilapidated.

Amazing Sunday jazz brunch back in the day. Food and service were always solid as my first experience was in 1988.
It's becoming apparent that exorbitant food costs combined with labor issues are causing long standing restaurants to close. Profit margins of 35 ~ 40% five years ago are gone as most business are struggling to make payroll and pay increasing rent. Sad Sad Sad
Crazy thing is Lafayette is building new fast food restaurants everywhere, all over the city.

Good place.
That was our favorite restaurant in Lafayette when we were evacuated there after Hurricane Katrins.

My first job was as a bar back at Judge Roy Bean’s Saloon, pre-Cafe Vermilion. No closing laws, Mexican weed $10 an ounce, loose women.

You’ve got to cater to the travel ball teams. jk
Seriously, I will miss Cafe V. However, it just seemed to run its course. We never think to go there which is odd. We love it every time we go.

Gotta few but they would not be so welcomed in today's day.
