The Cotton Bowl usually pits a Big 12 team vs. a Southeastern Conference team. But the Cotton Bowl can select Notre Dame over an SEC team once in the next two years.

That's how LSU got screwed out of the 1969 National Championship. The Cotton Bowl took ND over LSU.

If you read the article, the Cotton Bowl would replace the SEC team with Notre Dame...

I'd love LSU to play Notre Dame this year..and get over mendoza to 6-5-1 alltime vs ND..as LSU has let at least two victories and the tie get away late.

"They're still Notre Dame"

I seriously wonder historically how much they've actually earned vs. what's been given to them because they're Jesus' football team.

There should be separation of church and football.

Weird the Cotton Bowl even has a ND option. Everywhere you look it says Big 12 vs. SEC and whe nit lists all bowls it says just the Gator and Sun Bowls have ND options. Even on the Cotton Bowl's own website they say Big 12 vs. SEC (no ND option listed)

Notre Dame's best win is Navy...along with their only win against a team with a winning record. All other wins are GARBAGE.

It's Notre Dame! Can't tell me you wouldn't rather face the Irish than say a team like Minnesota.

Notre Dame always gets sent to a bowl gamer it doesn't deserve. Nothing new here. They deserve the Sun Bowl, nothing more.

At the end of the 1993 season, the Irish beat Texas A&M 24-21, their last bowl victory.

Since then, they have lost an NCAA-record nine straight bowl games

That should be enough reason alone to not have them surpass an SEC team going to the Cotton.

Notre Dame has also shown how much they suck arse in bowls. What is their bowl losing streak? 80? and they are all arse BEATINGS!

I'm surprised there's nothing written that puts a 7-win Notre Dame in the BCS.
