I can remember a short time ago when Notre Dame would refuse to go to lowly bowl games. Now they would take the New Orleans Bowl.

The Cotton did take ND over LSU that year, but it had no effect on our chances at the national championship. We had no chance. We lost our shot at the NC that year when Ole Miss upset us in Jackson. Even if we'd gone to the Cotton and beaten Texas (who was #1 I think), we would not have won the title.
