There is no question Trump was screwed and there is no question the Deep State is aligned and as powerful as ever.

The problem is your assumption is that no one could do better than Trump to fight it. That's simply false. Trump did many, many things that made it nearly impossible for him to be effective in fighting the Deep State. If you are going up against them you better have a plan and be disciplined because they sure as hell do. Instead he played constant defense. It's a primary difference between Trump and DeSantis. More specifically:

1. Bad appointments. Trump was dogshit at vetting his people he would appoint and often just appointed people that said nice things to him. Most of those folks turned on him. He simply didn't have a bench to pull from and was Lucy with the football over and over.

2. Leaks like crazy. Trump's Admin was a sieve. They were constantly fighting internal battles because they had so many people that were fighting with each other and leaking to the press. BTW, Trump was the worst about this himself as he got played over and over by Maggie Halberman at the NYT.

3. Have really good lawyers and have them watch over everything you are doing. Trump kept exposing himself and his team legally because he didn't plan accordingly and he let folks like Flynn meet with the FBI without an attorney.

4. Build up credibility capital with the People. Trump lied a lot and he acted like an arse even more. Thus when he was actually being screwed over a lot of people had no sympathy for him. That wasn't me or most of the folks on this site but this isn't reflective of the real world. He needed some level of credibility and trust with those who disagreed with him and he had almost none.

5. Terrible communication. Trump stepped on his dick constantly and was always reactive. He also would keep going on pre recorded interviews with people that hated him and let them slice and dice his words. Then he invites Bob Freaking Woodward into the WH for basically unrestricted access for months on end. Just a cluster.

6. Firing people on a whim and then denigrating them. Trump burned so many bridges and pissed on them after it was hard to count. He made it so that no one wanted to work for him and very few want to now because they know there is a very strong chance he will fire you, piss on you, and leave you with no career left unless you want to basically become a Democrat shill.

It pisses me off what happened to Trump and I want the Swamp and Media to pay but Trump just can't do it. He's less disciplined than ever and now he's gotten old. He barely even leaves MAL and he has very few friends left that are competent. You need an army of competent people to defeat the Swamp. He also has blacklisted every DeSantis supporter which is doubly stupid considering DeSantis has volumes of smart and talented folks supporting him and he is particularly appealing to the intellectual conservatives. Who is Trump going to appoint to run things? MTG and Gaetz?
