Reminds me of a story I heard…. My buddy was duck hunting and got checked by the GW. The GW asked if they were the ones that shot a pelican he found. My buddy quickly replied, “Nope that wasn’t us, those things are too hard to pluck!”

You guys are killin' me...

My apologies if you already mentioned it in this thread, but what was the violation?

Didn't know if I wanted to/should get too particular about the details at the time, but "No Wake Zone"...

Thanks, dad, was totally unaware until you just now mentioned it Really worried about a blazing fire starting and engulfing us on my 14' outboard with a 25 hp motor. The lifejacket and kill switch i can understand, esp the kill switch.
You should be scared……of everything.

Had a guy in our club kill a deer one morning, quartered it up and put in an ice chest in back of his truck at the camp with his harvest tag attached. Goes back to hunt the afternoon and game warden shows up and writes him a ticket for no possession tag left on his ice chest in his own truck.

He calls WLF and they can’t believe Cooke wrote him that ticket and told him to tear it up and don’t worry about going to court.

Same warden wrote my uncle a ticket for road hunting while he was standing in a ditch waiting for dogs to come out with no gun. This ticket was also dismissed. I think the a-hole GJ just has a hard on for our club.

He also threatened to write another member a ticket because he didn’t use his deer tags in the proper order even though he had torn off the top tag. They’re numbered backwards IIRC.

Also had one threaten to write me a ticket because I had a Texas drivers license with a lifetime La hunting license. Apparently the word lifetime was hard to understand.

I don’t think any tickets he’s ever written to anyone in our club has ever stuck.

well that is, by definition, fishing, that why its not called catching.

frick green jeans, but you knew they were there watching, and you baited a line and cast it out, that is fishing.

its a simple issue of your word against theirs and you can never win that. your only hope is show up in court and hope GJ is a no show, which is rare because they get a paid day off just to go to court. but there is a small chance you may get lucky and they dont show up, otherwise you lose.

depending on the fine, its cheaper to just pay it in the end, since they will add a couple hundred for court costs if they have to go to court

I did actually catch the Warden one time, but it was his fault. Had a stressful day at work, so got home, hooked up the boat and went to the lake to de-stress. Didn’t even look at the weather report, just one of those days, and just got blown around the lake till I tapped out, and coming to the landing, they were waiting for me. I had everything, except fish… but they wanted to check my livewell, so I said be my guest. He jumped into the boat after I had trailered it, looked everything over, then tried jumping off the boat to the ground; but on the way down he hit my spinnerbait rod, and the hook caught him in the leg on the way down after he already committed to jumping off the boat. The screaming commenced as he was doing the splitz with one foot on the ground and one in the boat, as my rod was still strapped…. He was hollering “ hit the button, hit the button “, to let the line out… Guess my drag was really tight. Man, it took me a while to figure out which rod went to that lure( I have a lot of rods, yeah, it might be an addiction). Anyway, I figured it out and gave him some relief. Got the hook out of him, and he did bleed a good bit, but he would be OK. He then proceeded to check everything, he was pissed, total attitude change; but had my ducks in a row….but he tried to find something…..

I renewed my boat registration last July, still havent received new registration and stickers. I've called at least 40 times since last week and it either automatically drops my call when it transfers me to the title department or say they are experiencing high call volumes and to call back later. I know I will get stopped and checked this weekend for memorial day so I printed out my receipt from last year when I purchased it and print screened all my attempts to call LDWF.

it says right there on your receipt that the receipt is your proof of registration until your new stickers arrive so keep it in your boat as proof.

True. They will lie under oath like it's nothing. I got a ticket for dove hunting over bait one time. There was a deer feeder on the other side of the field over 800 yards away. I hired an attorney and beat it. Yes I spent way more than the ticket was but its a matter of godamn principle. Don't let them lie and railroad you.

It seems like being able to keep an accurate tally of the deer harvest would help in regards to overall herd health and the ability to set bag limits.

Last year my dad got stopped by a new possum cop on a lake. The possum cop asked him for the usual and my dad has a hard time finding the boat registration, it had slide under a life jacket. After digging around for a few minutes he finds it and the idiot told him it wasn’t the right registration, the registration was for a tracker boat and my dad was fishing out of a nitro. My dad tried explaining to him nitro is made by tracker marine, after going back and forth a few times the possum cop proceeds to right my dad a ticket for not being able to produce registration because it took him to long. The next day dad calls head quarters and tells them what happened, the following day the new possum cop was at the doorstep to apologize and he tore the ticket up. My dad said watching that a-hole apologize to him after tearing the ticket up. The little prick told my dad as he was leaving next time he needs to be able to produce the registration faster.

My son and I were at Rockefeller a couple years ago at a weir called Crab City if anyone knows where that is. We were the only 2 there and had pulled our boat up to the bank to crab/cast net. Game wardens can drive to that weir and when they did they asked us how we got there and treated us like we were doing something illegal. It seemed pretty obvious to me that since there was only 1 boat with an old man and a 10 year old kid how we got there. They treated us like criminals.

frick them.

Hunting with 2 other buddies in the Wax. Boat started running bad and had a friend at the campground come tow us in.

On the tow back to the campground, Green Jeans decided to pull us over. Long story short, my buddies hopped in his boat for the tow and I had 8 ducks with me in my boat. All their guns, buckets and wallets were still with me in my boat. Got a ticket for illegal tagging.

Guy even seen us hunting together that morning.
