You’re laughing but that’s why they are all bummed and their seasons is over. A great coach once said and I am paraphrasing I as a coach don’t want my players to come across ANY situation where we are not prepared or did not work on it in practice. Kim Mulkey. That’s one of many reasons she is a championship coach. Yes they should have worked on it or she should have not had her freshman pitcher in the game.

She should be good at explaining early exits by now. She has half a decade worth of practice

Are you trying to tell me you don’t think college pitchers work on those things in bullpen sessions? I can promise you a well coached team does.

"All". It means each and every one, in case you didn't know. It is laughable that during EVERY bullpen session they would work on friggin pitchouts. And frankly, they probably should not have to work at it more than once per season.

Yep, when you are at LSU, losing to ULL in any sport is a big no no.

I watched the press conference. For the first time, she looked incredibly broken and shaken up the entire press conference. Was tearful throughout the entire thing. She was struggling pretty bad the entire time trying to keep it together.

She mentions returning the core for next season but I did not get a sense of confidence in fixing the issues that the program has in that press conference. She seems unsure of how to fix it (at least with the staff in its current state)

I watched the presser too. You are correct she was very emotional(kinda surprising considering how long she has been doing this). I really think she thought she had one of her better teams and this team should have gotten further. Also think she thinks UL had no business being in their regional as they were good enough to host their own.

Bottom line is they were in position and didn’t get it done and frankly it came down to coaching. She got out coached and look bewildered on what to do in that 7th inning. She crapped the bed big time. She needs to take a big look at what she was doing when she was taking the program to the College World Series. What’s changed. My bet it’s recruiting and a stake staff.

we have all said she needed to fire the staff for years and it will be her undoing.

She made a good point in the fact that both of their teams(LSU and ULL) are good enough to make it to OKC and should have the opportunity to meet there instead of just a regional every year.

They save those ideal pairings for the PAC 12 Schools

I really would like to credit ULL as the reason for the loss, but I don’t buy it. They were 1-9 against other ranked teams. Their last trips outside conference were losses to A&M and Baylor. They weren’t scoring 16 runs in two games against other top opponents and LSU didn’t give up runs at that pace either. Kilponen had a bad day and the freshmen cracked under the pressure.

Gives up too many homers. Beth took her out before she gave up another one. One good move for Beth anyway

fair enough but was the 16th seed resume better?

Also, said we were definitely trying to intentionally walk the batter. ADMITTED THAT BERZON PROBABLY HAS NEVER HAD TO DO THIS IN HER CAREER.

Couldn’t Beth just told the ump to put her on base? I don’t understand why she didn’t especially in that situation

For whatever reason the intentional walk rule in softball has not been changed yet. You still have to actually pitch 4 balls

Clemson is 8-8 against the RPI Top 25. Utah is 9-9. Georgia is 14-10. Texas is 19-7. Those were #13-16. Northwestern was the weakest of the seeded teams against the RPI at 3-6. (ULL was 2-10 before the regional.) There were several teams that didn’t host with better records against the Top 25 including Auburn and Baylor (who beat ULL).
