I really like the guy, but he is making a huge mistake going after Trump in this cycle.

Literally everybody that went after him in 2016 in the primaries destroyed their brand.

Trump will win the nomination. Hell, it is practically already done.

What is Desantis trying to accomplish? I’d gladly vote for him in 2028.

Such concern. Much worry.

If only Ron would think about Ron

DeSantis is a Bush/Establishment soldier. Just keep in mind that Bush brought us the Patriot Act. Look who's backing DeSantis.

He’s not going after Trump. He will continue to ignore him. Trump has already stated that he will not participate in any debates, so it’s unlikely they will ever be face to face.

Unless DeSantis invites him to his inauguration.

The only thing I can possibly think is that he wants to run as his VP candidate! Maybe they fight it out and then join forces and that will unite people from both sides and probably assure RD that he follows Trump after their term!

You're correct. He needs to wait till 2028.

Your concern is noted. He could easily win here again if it doesn’t work out for him for president.

Literally everyone has been saying this....Even if he somehow managed to pull out a win, it would cost him in the general with Trump voters and cost him going forward.

1. Best thing for him to do now is get his feet wet.

2. Run a campaign to provide an alternative without going after Trump. Meaning he can just stop at I have the same believes, but I do not have the baggage of Trump and leave it there without the personal attacks.

He will lose, but leave with a chance to move on to 2028.

Did destroy his brand. Takes years to build, hours to destroy.

Let’s say Trump wins the nomination but falls short again versus Biden, then Trump and DeSantis both run in 2028. Who would you vote for in the primary?

Yeah I've said the same thing over and over. If he'd sit back and wait until 2028, he'd have 2028 Republican nomination locked up like Newsom does for the Dems. He doesn't realize the RINOs egging him to run don't actually want him to win; they just want him damaged so that he isn't a factor in 2028. I hope he at least gets a new house or two from the establishment for running against Trump.

DeSantis will be Trumps VP this term and president for the next two terms. This is the way.

This has already happened to a large degree. Since he hasn't yet announced, there's technically still time.

Desantis was recruited to run this cylce by the people that hate Trump. Their goal is to keep Trump from winning.

It was always going to be very, very hard for Desantis to beat Trump. And, IMO, he hasn't campaigned in the one way that he had a chance. Just as importantly, it was going to be even harder (almost impossible) to beat Biden because by running against Trump, he was going to guarantee that he didn't get the Trump base voters.

It never made sense for him to run. But, he's running anyway. And, you are right. The GOP is throwing away a guy who had a very positive brand and a very positive future.

It's another sign that things that we think should be obvious aren't. If you assume the goal of the GOP is to win elections and gain control of the federal government, you are probably very wrong.
