Sort of lost its appeal to me when Fertel mostly divested and they moved corporate offices to Florida - coupled with the choice not to reopen the old Broad St. location after Katrina.

This seems simply the next logical step.

Why are you saying this? That company have a bad rep?

Baton Rouge location will still be legit. All I care about.

Orlando, Florida-based Darden operates Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse and Bahama Breeze among others. Darden has agreed to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Ruth’s for $21.50 per share, in an all-cash transaction with an equity value of roughly $715 million.
darden is huge, but i doubt they'd spend that kind of coin on ruth's just to dumb it down

Capital Grille seems to already be their "high end" steakhouse, and it's decent enough.

I've eaten at one in Atlanta There didn't seem to be much distinction between it and a random city Ruth's Chris, though, so I'm wondering what, if anything, they are going to do to try and distinguish between the two.

Isn't the BR location owned by someone else?

Yes. It used to be TJ Moran property and now it’s owned by Chris Bachman.

The BR location was the first franchise and is not owned by the corporation.

I would assume he was operating under the brand with the blessing of the current corporate owner? Curious if the new buyer will have to allow them to do so, or if it is something they could push back on if they wanted.

I honestly don’t know, but TJ was a tough businessman. I’m sure that he and Ruth Fertel negotiated something that would allow the business to be a Ruth’s Chris in perpetuity.

Ruth’s is largely franchised base with owners operating their own places. The company owns some locations and others not.

Do you know if the Darden company is set up the same way? I don't.

I prefer a good steak from Sullivan’s these days over any of the other restaurants.

I hope so. If not, he could open up a new steakhouse.
