Been shooting the same Scott Mongoose and Lil’ Goose for 30+ yrs. I tried shooting a Carter chocolate addiction but couldn’t get comfortable and had zero confidence

Scott lil goose

Last season started using a Carter wise choice. I like the button release better. Working on my technique.

Along these lines … I really suck at shooting my bow. No matter how much I practice I just suck at it. Is changing my release something that could help ?

Not sure the exact model but it's a True Ball. I think I bought it around 2011. Still in good shape.

Go get some professional instruction. There has to be something off in your mechanics. Practicing a lot can be more harm than good if it’s just reinforcing bad form. Let someone who knows this stuff help your form, and then put in the hours of practice.

I have a scott that I use. It’s pretty old, I don’t even remember the name. I bought a UV button before last season and practiced with it and felt ok using it but after 2 missed deer early in the season, I went back to the wrist strap. I feel way more comfortable shooting with a wrist strap

The beauty of the Stan Extinction 2, and the Carter Like Mike 2, is :

You can get that no trigger travel shot
WITHOUT having to set it so sensitive.

Sensitivity and travel each have their own setting .

The Stan is 30:1 ratio reduction by the sear & 1/2. Carter is 2 sears.

Both are a whole different world from the old releases that you had to set so sensitive.

You adjust the length so that your index finger folds over the trigger at the second joint- set it so that you can rest that finger and not have it go off— then, without any travel, just barely begin to put pressure— and it’s gone. Amazing.

Pretty sure mine is the Scott quickshot.

I guess you could say I'm the exact opposite of a gear junky (in a bad way) in that if you ask me what I'm shooting or using half the time, I couldn't tell you exactly what it is. I can probably tell you the brand, but anything further is just catching me after I recently used it.
