Maybe a slightly unpopular option on Javen Coleman

I thought he pitched fine today. He gave up some hard hit balls but he doesn't seem to have control issues like I thought he might after Tommy John. Alderman's homer wasn't a terrible pitch but he did leave the other homer over too much of the plate. The stuff will play and he'll get more dialed in on his locations more and more each outing. By leaving him out there, Jay was playing the long game knowing we need to get him more reps.

I don't see anything wrong with that opinion.

This is only his second outing since returning from TJ and Jay was stretching him. OM was seeing him well, but that is only a concern for this game.

Yeah, we have less runway left than people think before postseason, so giving Coleman more rope today is not a bad thing. Long game. We just happened to actually win today as well.

I thought he looked fine. Like you said he tossed a couple pitches too much over the plate. They were sitting fastball. We are gonna need him so the more he gets out there the better.

I thought he threw very well for his second appearance post TJ. He will be a solid piece the rest of the year.

We are going to need him to eat up innings in Omaha if we are going to win a championship. Pitching strictly in midweek games isn't going to get him ready for that. Today was a perfect opportunity to get him in an SEC game on the road in a different environment than The Box.

He pitched lights out in my opinion!! Yes, coming off of TJ, he’s still a bit rusty. He’ll continue to improve tremendously in the coming weeks!!!

He needs to build back velocity and you do that by actually pitching.

Maybe it’s a low bar but I’m happy with any pitcher that doesn’t walk batters right now

Having a lefty with control is always a benefit even if the stuffs average at the moment

I think his pitch count was 25 or 30 on the second homer.

That was his second time on the mound. Will take time to get in shape

It’s his 2nd outing since TJ. Let’s pump the brakes. He’s throwing strikes but is still rusty. It will take time. He will be a contributor come playoff time in a month.

How much anyone want to bet he’s the Sunday guy next weekend ?
