3,095 hits, 2nd is Joey Votto with 2093. Nelson Cruz and Elvis Andrus are the only other with more than 2K.

Altuve has to be close to 2,000.
Hats off to Miggy. Saw him hit a homer in person. A slicing rocket line drive to opposite field. Landed about three seats from me thankfully. Was watching it come in and wasn’t looking forward to trying to snag it. Had 8 stitches in one hand at the time that certainly would have gotten wrecked.

Had an autographed ball by Miggy.
Strangely enough, lost it in a boating accident.

It was a treat to watch him play.
Perhaps the best pure hitter of his generation.

Yep. He's taking his victory lap this year - well deserved, just like Mariano

That would be a great discussion. Primarily because of how overlapping into the generations of Griffey, Bonds, Trout etc he was. His longevity greatly helps his statistical argument but greatly diminishes his overall greatness based on eras. There was a very short window where anyone would've considered him the greatest hitter in baseball in the grand scheme. You have to put him there among the greats but slotting him would be a motherfricker

From 2004-2016 the dude was probably the best hitter in baseball. Dude hit .324 during that span, won 4 batting titles, averaged 33 home runs a season, and played in 150+ games every season but 1.

And a triple crown. I’ve got tickets to the season’s final weekend games in Detroit this year. Have to give my farewell.

3000 hits and 300 wins are a thing of the past

I still can't believe this is the same person who played as a professional athlete for 20 yrs.

Saw the Detroit Home Opener this year and his standing ovation was the loudest I’ve heard that stadium get in a long time. Farewell Miggy!

He got old and put on weight?
Posted on 4/23/23 at 6:16 pm to TigerintheNO
And he did it all while having one public family and another secret family.

Miggy had a pretty public drinking problem as well. Not exactly a mystery as to how he put on weight

Marlins need to go back to those uniforms and logo.

One of the best for sure. I'm still amazed the Tigers of all teams were able to trade for him back in 08

Went to a game two summers ago and he hit a homer in the first for his 498th. Later in the game, he hit into an inning ending double play and Devers from the Red Sox flipped the ball over the dugout and I caught. Has a big black scuff mark on the ball from Miggy's bat.
