It's been a few years, but I would either stay at the Marriott on Canal, JW on Canal or Renaissance in the Warehouse District when I would travel down there. Some on my team liked to stay at The Saint or the Ritz, but it was an old dumpy one IIRC.

They just renovated the ritz not to long ago. I stayed there recently for a wedding. They did a good job on it.
