I don’t know how long I can force myself to support a franchise that doesn’t even support itself
Genuinely considered not even going to the play-in game

You can’t get into basketball shape without playing basketball…. Let him play. A slow Zion is still better than most second units

he does not feel he's himself. only when he feels himself will he play 5 v 5.
he does not meet the physical metrics.
those are from the last presser.

In normal terms- his arse is too fat too play.

You left our part of it. AFTER he meets metrics and feels ok.

Just really sad honestly. This kid has the world by the balls but he’s clearly got his priorities all fricked up. Basketball seems to come around the middle of the road as far as what’s important to him. He supposedly had a private chef making lean protein meals for him everyday and was supposedly dedicated to working on his body in the gym and the court but none of it has shown to be true. I’m still hoping he wakes up and realizes he’s throwing his career away and makes the changes needed but I am losing hope he ever will. Some guys just never mature after they get paid. Zion is more about Japanese cartoons than he is basketball.

You talk to him last week?
He said a year or so back that if you (he) drops too much weight you feel less powerful. He’s a power player. 2+2=4

Maybe I’m an idiot and a glutton for punishment, but this is where I am as well.

Conditioning being the reason is all signs of a over protective training staff. Stars comes back all the time from month longer injuries and play their way back into shape. No reason our staff to be this cautious if he isn't injured anymore
Most idiotic take in this whole thread

Z will have to diversify his game. He ain't going to avoid injuries by being a bull in a china shop. When he played, he was routinely trying to smash through a wall of 3 or 4 opponents. That's just asking for an injury. So this year it was his hammy. Next year ...?

Anyone still wanna fight me about Zion has a maturity issue a year or so ago...
I was calling for his trade after he got injured and left the Covid bubble. frick him. Y'all keep getting your hopes up on that fat frick, it's on you now.
News flash... You're REALLY gonna be happy when he get hurts next year.

Uhhhhh, did you see the difference in how he looked coming into the season?

Not an idiot - it’s the only realistic option. Zion is going to be on the roster next year. When healthy, he might be the next offensive player in the league and makes the Pels a title contender.
What else can you do but hope it works out next year? I wouldn’t bet on it financially or emotionally, but I’ll hope for it.
And in the meantime I’ll entertain myself with a little zion is fat gallows humor.

Zion being able to play off ball and shoot would save him from some general wear and tear as well as game to game fatigue.
It would be great IF he could do that here.

Staying in shape during the season is doable. He's willing to do enough.
Staying in shape when unable to play has proven to be a problem multiple times.
Getting in shape takes months IF he's dedicated.

Talked to my buddy who is close to some of the senior guys in the organization (not Griff). He basically said this has become a power play about getting Z to buy in to the program and grow up before his extension kicks in. Z flat out dislikes all the rules and metrics the training staff uses to determine if he can play, thinks they’re “stupid” and wants to play his way back, have fun, and help the team. Griff’s approach is very paternalistic to some even in the building who think he just doesn’t get or accept that it’s a players league and you risk alienating your franchise star by keeping him out until he hits the benchmarks you set. Said this dynamic between Z and Griff has been there from the start and almost caused a full rupture last year…second hand stuff but I trust the guy

FREE ZION ...
... from the clutches of the evil villain Griff (who is oppressing players with his rules and metrics).
Let Zion play on Wednesday vs OKC. Do it.

He’s had control issues from the beginning. He drove 2 coaches out because of his constant meddling in rotations. Only hired Willie because Griff literalky chose the staff and has constant input on who plays. He was fired from Cleveland for this exact reason. Im not saying Zion doesn’t have his issues but Griffin has been given full reign to do what he wants like a mad king possessed and wont stop unless Gayle fires him.

Zion is young, and clearly might not be making the best decisions or taking great care of himself, but I also REALLY don't trust Griff.
He's misled Pels fans many times before, and has continued to mislead fans about Zion's injury diagnosis. I don't trust a word that comes out of his mouth.
