Appomattox Courthouse is a cool place to visit, if you are in the area. The modern town of Appomattox is a few miles away and this little village fell into disuse after the war. The buildings have now been restored and they look like it did back in 1865. Union officers made off with the furnishings as souvenirs, so little of that is original. I'm sure Mr. McClean appreciated that.

Fun fact: In 1861 he lived in Manassas Junction. He moved to Appomattox to get away from the war.
