Why do Credit/Debit Cards still come with raised numbers?

It just makes the paint rub off faster so you can't see the numbers without tilting it and reading the shadow relief from whichever available light source you have handy, and serves no purpose at all.
When was the last time you saw one of these used?

The new ones with the numbers on the back wear off even faster. I have to get a new debit card every six months

Not all of them do. Mine doesn't.

Because it's a nice textile feeling.

I dont know where my debit card is. Points programs and rewards from credit cards are so much better.

Do your credit cards still have raised numbers? None of my credit or debit cards have them now.

It helps that yours expired five years ago.

Interesting, all of mine and my wife's do, USAA issued. Also, I have two HSA cards from totally separate institutions and those have the raised numbers too. And back when I had an FSA (totally separate topic, never do an FSA) that card also had raised numbers. That was only 4 years ago. I've never had any kind of card without the raised numbers.

Doesn't matter. I use my phone and my cards are on my card app.

A lot of them don’t. Like some of the most basic credit cards do, but all of my debit cards and credit cards for my business are flat and the CC#’s are on the back.

Some of my cards don’t even have numbers or expiration dates printed on them, if you need the numbers you have to look it up online or use the app

Years ago. When n the oilfield. Hired hookers for oil producer companies clients.
They carried it in their “ toy bag “ which carried their lingerie , dildos , lube etc. ( the hookers not the oilfield guys )
This was all on my expense account.
