Scott Woodward’s HC hires

Original post
I think it’s important to recognize and appreciate the phenomenal job our Athletic director has done hiring head coaches these past couple years. Here’s an overview of his hires per OP:
“ Brian Kelly:
After two awful seasons lead by Coach O, LSU Football was in a state that it hadn't been close to in decades. So Scott Woodward hired one of the Winningest coaches in College Football, Brian Kelly. Kelly has since transformed LSU back into the program it was always known to be, and he did it in just one season...
Jay Johnson:
After the great Paul Mainieri retired, LSU Baseball was in need of a new head coach. Woodward shocked many and hired Arizona Head Coach Jay Johnson. Turns out this was a home run hire, as Johnson has absolutely dominated the recruiting trail, and in just two years has set up LSU baseball to become a dynasty once again.
Kim Mulkey:
Nikki Fargas had been the Women's Basketball coach since 2011-2012, but her time had come to an end and LSU was in need of another Head Coach. Woodward made sure to shoot high, and hired former Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey. This has been yet another amazing hire for Woodward, as Mulkey now leads her team to the Final Four in just her second year.
Matt McMahon:
Lastly is Matt McMahon, after the Will Wade accusations, LSU was essentially forced to fire the great General Wade. So yet again, Woodward was searching for another head coach. Eventually he hired Murray State head coach Matt McMahon who had just come off of a 31-3 season. McMahon hasn't exactly exceeded expectations yet, as LSU finished the season 14-19. But taking into account the terrible situation he was set up with, I believe McMahon will shock many come next season. “

Great, you just sent the retard signal.

Doesn’t matter. According to some of these genius on here, he lucked into 3 of them and intentionally sabotaged the basketball program. Also because he’s not super in shape they call him Jabba the AD.
When he dies the job well, he’s lucky.
When things go wrong it’s solely his fault and not the HC that was under investigation.

Please give it up. Scott Woodward is head and shoulders over baws like you, so just go outside and polish your truck nutz or what ever you mental defectives do to occupy your time.
Your schtick is old, tiresome, and totally unimportant in the grand scheme of L S U athletics.

Here come all the Chads with their meltdowns over basketball…

However, at this time, you guys have NOTHING to attack Woody over. You are clearly outing yourselves as Will Wade cucks if you are attacking Scott over firing Wade or just simply calling him fat.

Damn. In the last couple weeks I have upvoted two Gray Tiger posts and one Pirate King post. What is the world coming to?

3 hires are A’s, 1 is an incomplete but trending to an F. I think that is a 3.0 gpa if McMahon is an F. Scott gets a Passing grade.

Spot on.
The baseball team... ranked #1
WBB team....... final 4
Softball team.... ranked in the top 20
Mens Basketball...... garbage.... therefore Scott is a horrible AD.
fricking retarded fans.

Don’t forget the Football Coach just brought the team to the SEC championship and 10 wins in YEAR ONE!!!

Starting to think a lot of guys on here would let Scott pork their wives.

It is TBD as to whether or not the firing was necessary. Memphis was under investigation by the same body investigating LSU. Hardaway is still coaching there. Sean Miller was fired by Arizona while their program was under investigation. After a year away from coaching he was hired by Xavier while Arizona was still under investigation. The ruling eventually came down and Miller received no penalties. So while I doubt they necessarily regret doing so, arguably Arizona wasn't "forced" to do so.
If Wade gets a show cause penalty then the firing was warranted. If not, then he unnecessarily nuked the basketball program.

exceeded expectations? He fell miserably short of meeting the lowest expectations in 6 years.

Based upon what? Truly, what is there to suggest this?
Otherwise, you can't really knock his hires (though I think paying a huge salary to a WBB coach is a terrible ROI)
If he were the one who reached out to Kelly, then that was TREMENDOUS foresight to think a highly successful HC, in the midst of a successful season, may be willing to leave it all for a realistic shot at a championship.
The LSU baseball job was probably the easiest to make given the pedigree of the program and the fact LSU is one of the few schools in the US who truly invests in college baseball. Still, just plugging and playing a successful HC doesn't always work out (see Dave Serrano at Tennessee). Good on him for finding a lifetime West Coast guy who was ready and willing to adapt to SEC baseball.
Mulkey was a terrific timing hiring. She had accomplished a ton at Baylor. But sometime you become a victim of your own success where really good is expected and not always appreciated. He was able to sell her on leaving the powerhouse she built to come home and make the people of her home state happy.
