He would like his message, but probably wouldn't like his style or insults.
By the way, they rubbed shoulders from time to time, though weren't all that close:

The leftists of that era and their media sycophants loved describing Reagan as a "B List Actor".
Although he was a former Governor, he was still considered an outsider. He flipped the South and basically told the Unionistas to shove it. He was loathed by DC Democrats and the Hollywood class. One sufferer from RDS (Reagan Derangement Syndrome) shot him.
On the other hand, Reagan was far better spoken, wasn’t prone to self-aggrandizing proclamations, and read books. He had no history of questionable business practices or a trail of past wives and low rent hos. There were also no reports of infidelity as a married man.
While Reagan infuriated his Democrat counterparts, they did come to respect him and his effectiveness as a leader, particularly on the international stage.
Reagan and his Administration broke the law by funding anti-communists in Nicaragua. Congressional Democrats thought they had their "gotcha moment", but Oliver North walked into the hearings, slapped his Johnson on the table, and made them look petty and foolish. That was 30+ years ago and you can still rile old school Dems over the issue. It was a fascinating chapter in modern American politics.
None of these things can be said of Trump. As I have said in other threads. Trump is a bombastic, narcissistic womanizing scoundrel. And while he is not wrong in calling just about everything inside the beltway "The Swamp", he's pretty much a swamp creature himself.
To the question: I don't think Reagan would respect Trump on any front outside of his ability to antagonize and frustrate Democrats. But perhaps I am projecting because I respected Reagan immensely and these are my views on Trump.

Reagan had top notch aides and they were not scared to tell him things. Don Regan, Deaver, Nofziger and William French Smith were no shrinking violets.
They would probably tell Reagan to keep a guy like Trump at arms length. Don't praise him effusive but compliment his supporters and then attempt to co-opt them and somewhat marginalize him if they saw him as problematic.
They were very pragmatic politicians.

And then he signed the amnesty bill that pretty much undoes everything good he did and is still fricking this country to this day.

Reagan was a gentleman and would have no use for Donald Trump and his style of politics

Reagan's time was a totally different animal; the Dems of today would have put Reagan behind bars for the 'Sandinista' thing. Who knows how tough and ruthless Reagan would have become if the Fascist Dems who now own the Judiciary, Deep State, MSM and half the populous had faced him down.

I think Reagan would have approved of many of Trump’s actions that sought to put America/Americans first. Bringing back manufacturing jobs, “peace through strength”, and similar efforts.
I’m doubtful Reagan would’ve approved of Trump’s no holds barred NYC brawler approach to politics and I’m sure he would not have been happy with Trump not adhering to Reagan’s 11th commandment “thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican”.
Reagan was a statesman and he often disarmed opposition with humor and charm . And he had plenty of opposition back in the day.
It was a different era. RR remains the personal favorite president of my lifetime but in this modern, nasty age of cutthroat opposition , 24/7 news and the instant reaction of social media, even Reagan’s considerable people skills would’ve been tested.

He would approve of Trump's years in the White House mush more than he would of Lying Joe Biden's!
The only past president who approved of Joe Biden, was Jimmy Carter...and he was arguably the worst U.S. President in history. Hell, even Obama-nation was quoted as saying something to the effect of: Joe Biden will f--k things up!

a more interesting question would be, What did reagan really think of the bushes?
Posted on 3/27/23 at 8:07 am to geauxbrown
It's impossible to compare the two without a common frame of a reference; the two were of very different times so comparing them as they were in their time makes no sense.
If Reagan were alive/active politically in today's climate he'd be much like Trump - If Trump had been nationally active in Reagan's time his delivery would have been much more like Reagans.

He would have turned into a similar version of Trump. The world has changed in the last 30-40 years.
You start them both off at a similar baseline and then marinate them in same shite for 40 years.
The men will come out different but very similar.

Donald Trump would never sell out the US Educational system like Ronald Reagan did
Reagan got through with some scoundrel activities, education; Iran/Contra

As others have said, he is highly overrated among conservatives, and I grew up with a father who called him "Ronaldus Magnus."
I think Reagan would hate all of the politicians of the last 25 years. I know everyone here cries about Trump's style and tone, but he is merely a reflection of what started long ago with the Clintons and their sycophants engaging in personal destruction of their opponents and the female Clinton accusers. And it heightened with the attacks on W, and has descended ever since.
The Speaker of the House literally and unironically suggested that Trump, as the President, should be executed for treason. It's hard to fault his messaging given the vile and outrageous rhetoric that has been directed towards him.

The perspective of then versus the truth now offers a much more accurate insight as to who Reagan truly was and the massive missteps of which some people try to avoid noticing.
It could be said that he was the first of a string of globalist enabling demolitionists
His policy failures speak for themselves - and they werent pervasive. he did some good things too.
AND His decorum was impeccable. He would never go into the Oval without a suit and tie due to his honor for the office.
We could use more of the good - but there was another shoe to also drop - as there is with anyone

So in our lifetime for most of us on here consists of Reagan, Bush Sr, W, and Trump.
You are saying that Reagan is the most overrated out of those. Do you really think one of the Bush’s were better?

I doubt if Reagan would have liked Trump.
