Didn’t something like this happen about 20yrs ago and the damn thing sunk near Donaldsonville? I think I recall the city fighting with the company on whose responsibility it was to clear the wreckage. Only in Louisiana.
The Pelican. It was in New Orleans for years and then the city of Donaldsonville bought it, it was moved up there, then it was struck by a barge, sank but still a navigational hazard and the city couldn’t afford to salvage it.

there used to be a boat like that that would spend a lot of time docked in Key West right by where a friend of mine keeps her boat
In the early 90s we were out on the lake and pulled alongside an old 2-mast wooden boat and spoke with the owner for a while. From memory, that ship was one of two that were the last the US Navy used in Annapolis to train for rigging and sailing prior to the age of steel and engines.

I saw a ship like that once in Fremantle Australia. Cool to see a ship like that up close.

If I recall Correctly there's one like this sunk on the bank near Donaldsonville. I believe it was called "Le Pelican" or something like that. Tried to make it a tourist spot, but the boat took on water and the upkeep was more than what the boat was bought for so they just let the river take it.

The Pinta is in Biloxi til April. It's amazing how small those ships were.
A replica of Sir Francis Drake's boat was here when I was a kid. I was shocked by how small. And his clipper circumcised the world!

The Kidd is slated for dry dock soon for repairs around the hull and the existing dock it has used since the early 1980s.
Do you know when that is supposed to happen, and how long it will remain open for visitation? Estimated time in drydock?

The Mississippi River looks fantastic
They drained it and refilled it a few months back. Did a world of good.
