Strikes me as the “get the best guys you can” approach

MM seems to be taking more of a focused approach vs. contacting every potential player. It appears that he might be working on backup plans to Baker and Mack. He only started contacting some other low-post players after they didn't commit on their visits.

That is the exact opposite from what it appears has happened. Literally every highly publicized player hitting the portal lists LSU as a school that has contacted him.

Yea it looks like no stone is being left unturned here in an attempt to improve the roster

We are going to have to throw some money around, borderline tamper, to get what we need to compete next year. I don’t know if we have the $$ or backers to do it.
Maybe borrow some money from the women’s side? And while at it, maybe have Kim tudor MM and staff on fundamental basketball, and teaching how to win

Here’s your rim protector. Would’ve loved Tylor Perry but him and cook wouldn’t work together

Girard is on Campus this weekend, and On3 has him projected to LSU.
He would do well in the "Miller Role" from this past season where he just runs around and looks for quick 3s. I wonder if how he will hold up in a much more physical SEC but nonetheless he would be a starter.

Good read regarding NIL values for basketball in the On3 link below. CMM not only has the challenge of convincing players LSU will be a good fit for them but probably more important is the all mighty $$$. If the report is even partially accurate LSU simply does not have the NIL money these high caliber players expect ($200-$500k per year) and even role players wanting $75-$150k! Simply crazy when you think about it. The "contacts" and "visits" are no longer just about fit / playing time but how much can I make to come here and play. Pretty sad.

Its the worst kept secret in sports that college basketball players have been paid under the table for decades. I'd be interested to see how the amounts these players are bringing in now compare with the under the table payments of the past. My guess is, with the portal and NIL allowed, players are wanting significantly more

Will Baker committed per Rothstein.

The NIL values for transfers on ON3 are way lower than that. The vast majority are under $50k. There are some interesting exceptions like Brandon Murray getting $96k at Ole Miss, Yohanne Traore had a value of $173k at Auburn, and Adam Miller at $103K at LSU. I don't know how ON3 comes up with the NIL values, but there is a huge disparity. Among the top 200 transferees listed, there are 28 that have NILs over $50k, and the rest are under. The 2 highest are the 1 armed Hansen Enmanuel at $1.4M and Caleb Love at $747k, then the 3rd highest is Hunter Dickenson at $282k. There are very high NILs among non-transfers, but Hansen is still the highest.

I think the NIL needs a cap for each school.

Baker is a good get. He comes close to replacing KJ. With the other additions, we should already be better.

Good get by Mcmahon. Does anyone know if Baker ended up taking that San Diego State visit? If so, would be pretty impressive imo that Mcmahon was able to pull him over a team that was just in the natty.

Never saw anything beyond the report that SDSU contacted him after he visited LSU.

Baker is a nice addition, esp. since LSU had no one to replace KJ. Neither KJ nor Baker graded out very well on defense last season. KJ graded out much better on offense against stiffer competition. Baker does have the ability to step out and hit the three, which is always good for a big man.

There has been some chatter around Abram to LSU, but does anyone know if he has visited? Same for Tchewa.

I agree, there needs to be a cap per team or over a period of years.
But the NIL "values" on On3 that you are referencing are not what is actually being paid - those values are generated by the sites algorithm based on brand value, social media influence and followers, etc. It is NOT the actual size of money deals they are getting or will get. In fact most of that stuff is very tight lipped, there is no site that keeps all of this info on players so the public can see it. Only via leaks do you get an idea every once in a while.

Cam Hayes in the portal…could mean Stewart or Girard is coming.
