Had an employee the other day get into it with a large customer over email. When I finally saw the email chain I told him just to shut down his computer and log off. He said he “didn’t want to let the customer disrespect him.” The self-esteem movement fricked a lot people up.

My FIL used to own a hardware store and he would build a very elaborate playhouse to give away to a kid every Christmas. He'd spend over a grand and about a month of evenings building it. Two events stopped him from doing it anymore, after decades.

One, a single, grown man with now kids entered and won. He basically sold it right in front of my FIL after the drawing.

The final straw was a family won it. My FIL offered to deliver it, but the father insisted he could load it. He brought a rinky-dink trailer and my FIL pushed back. He knew how much it weighed. The father was kinda a jerk about it, so my FIL loaded it up with his forklift. Guess what? They didn't make it home and the playhouse was damaged significantly. The guy wanted my FIL to repair it and threatened to sue.

Back in the day my crew received a $5 a hour raise, which was unheard of. Everyone was excited except one person, who said, "I wish it was $6". I wanted to slap her down the hall.

I helped serve free lunches to impoverished families on Thanksgiving forever ago. A handful of them were absolutely shitty and degrading.
