Just stumbled across this trailer for a new show starting on Freevee next month.

As someone who loved the Joe Schmo Show, this is right up my alley. Can't figure out how they get the main character to buy in/not realize its fake; but looks pretty funny.

4 episodes in and it's entertaining. But I'm not convinced the main character is not in on it and is acting himself. Since it's set in L.A., it's easy enough to explain why James Marsden is there (and he is great in this), but I don't understand why they put Joe, the sanitation guy from Parks & Rec in there as well. Seems like the main character could've easily recognized him and figured out this was all fake.

I'm disappointed. I thought this was a thread about the 1995 film Jury Duty with Pauley Shore and Tia Carrere.

Just binged all 6 episodes that are out - it’s hilarious. Still not convinced the main guy doesn’t think something’s up, but it’s funny either way. So many great characters. Marsden is gold in this.

Just started this show and minutes in all I could think was that I had seen some of those characters in other things, how had the main guy not ? i get not recognizing marsden specifically, but at some point I would have thought "this is odd that everyone looks familiar"

Finally got around to this. On episode 6.

Ron is a freaking saint. I have a coworker that genuinely acts like some of those characters. I honestly feel like I’m on candied camera around him. Today I walked into my boss’ office and screamed WTF is he doing still being employed (and didn’t get in trouble.) and it genuinely reminded me of these people. Him doing that without stopping production is amazing.

My biggest laughs were “I’m going to go rub one out,” Mardsen drawing Jaquis naked, and Mardsen’s shite. And then Mardsen asking what level of bouncing Noah needed.

Mardsen is amazing for going into this. I know he’s not A Lister but he sold an a-hole version of himself.

ETA: I would have known something was up when I saw Kirk Fox. Couldn’t have named him but I knew he was in Parks and Rec and B99.

Finally watched this and I really liked the show. Ron gives me hope for America. There are still good people out there. I thought it was awesome that the cast and crew genuinely fell in love with the guy.

I, too, recognized the plumber. Cover would have been blown.
