Steve Lavin got St. John’s to 2 NCAAs and 2 NITs in 5 seasons. But he got fired immediately after being eliminated in the first round of the second trip to the NCAA tournament.

Odd because I heard Georgetown is targeting him as well. I know a couple of Pitino's sons went there.

Dude has been around for 31 years since retiring at age 67. Not many people make it that long after retirement.

Apparently he is still pretty coherent and active for his age.

If he's serious about this, Pitino could absolutely kill it at St. John's. He's 70 now though so probably wouldn't be there long.

Hell yes if true. Been a St. John's fan since 1983 when I was in 6th grade. Been waiting for the Redmen to get back to the Lou Carneseca days for years. Man, I used to love Big East Basketball in the 80's/early 90's.

Pitino's never been too worried about how long he lasts.

The game has completely passed Mike Anderson by while Rick has adapted, while both used to coach very similar styles back in the 90s (Anderson as an assistant at Arkansas and Pitino at Kentucky). Just goes to show, you adapt or die when the rules change out of your favor.

Pitino’s Kentucky teams had the quality depth to hang with Richardson’s teams and vice versa , those were great games.

Richardson’s game was fun to watch and very successful til it wasn’t. It was the end of an entertaining era.
