I think what they actually said was the negativity around the program that had nothing to do with wins and losses. I wanted Wade to stay but I can understand what they were referring to. The media was on a crusade and when the evidence that we know of came out it made it pretty difficult for LSU to stand by Wade. Objectively that shite was nearly impossible to defend and we don’t know what else was known by the administration and what discussions took place between all parties involved so I’ll refrain from calling people names and pretending to know more than what has been made public.

Having said that, yes the product on the court sucks arse at the moment but I believe Woodward has an ego like most people in his position and if things do not improve pretty quickly he will make a move so I’m not in the shut the program down camp by any means either

Do LSU players still have the most points in a:
freshman year (Chris Jackson/Mahmoud-Rauf)
Soph/Junior/Senior year (Pete)

I think Pistol played 88 games vs Davis's 144 or something around that. Not even close to being the same.

If we are counting meaningless exhibition games, shouldn't Pete's freshman year stats count now. The irony of Pat Forde wanting a team to buy their way into a tournament is great after he raked LSU over the coals for strong offers. Pat can suck a giant dick.

If Davis breaks Pistol's record on this bullshite exhibition tourney then by all means they need to recount Pistol's freshman year towards his total. 1000%, in fact it should have already been counted in!

While I was dismayed at some folks' attitude on here about this record being in jeopardy - my position remains, "Rules change all the time. A career record is a career record."

Having said that, STTDB -

Yes...or at least the highest ppg average for each class.

It's why despite a relative lack of basketball success, when you put together an "all time" team LSU is generally mentioned among the top five or so. Maravich, Petit, O'Neal, Jackson, (insert 5th guy here) were some of the most dominant players in college basketball history.

Without looking i wanna say Kevin Durant has come closest to CJ’s freshman average

(Tasmin Mitchell held him to a career low 10 points )

Buying your way into a tournament is legal.

Paying low income black kids from your personal account is not.

So you believe its immoral to pay kids to play, but its OK to buy into a tournament in order to to break a record that was establish through legal means.

Wonder why they changed the rules to allow paying players, if it was immoral.

I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the teams who won National Championships had players who were paid.

Pat Forde is just showing his true colors when it comes to anything LSU related.

Pete Maravich was a top 100 player in the NBA. Let’s see if Antoine Davis can even make it in a G-Leage. Or does Davis have a 6th year of eligibility?

So wasn't Pistol Pete's record done over 3 years? This kid had 4 years and still couldn't break it? Loser.

He averaged 44 points a game without a 3 point line.

Ironically, had Davis tried to make a few more assists instead of jacking up awful shots in the 2nd half to get the record, his team might have survived to play one more legitimate game

I mean, I guess it's a nice story. a 50 yr record previously thought untouchable could have been broken. If it weren't an LSU player involved, I could see watching, and wanting to see the guy do it.

But it's not at all the same accomplishment; Maravich did it in 3 seasons in a conference that included Kentucky (a beast). And he did it without all the rules that has helped scoring improve.

I'd like to see someone break down numbers- just field goals made, and free throws made. Forget point totals, because Pete never got more than 2 points per shot. I'd love to see total shots and FTs made, per career, per season, per game.

Waiting on Forde's tweet he's started a CBI go-fund for Mercy/Davis to make it happen.

It is not really breaking Pete's record. This kid can't touch what Pete did.

It's about the White Guy holding the record.
