Trump vs DeSantis Covid response

Let’s remember DeSantis was the first governor to come out against the tyrannical federal govt and begin setting up plasma stations to speed up recovery while all the other states just shoved patients in hospitals and pumped them with remdesivir and a ventilators until they died. He also refused to shut Florida down.
Trump turned all power over to Fauci and shut the entire country down.
Am I wrong?
This is coming from a huge Trump supporter. I’m just comparing actions

Desantis put State Police in I-10 at Bama/Florida boarder looking for people from Louisiana and turned them back. Florida was shut down until mid May of 2020.
He’s much better than the idiot over Louisiana, but honestly that isn’t saying a lot.
My daughter graduated from LSU in May 2020, lost her graduation, and her trip to Turks and Cacos.
It took forever for my wife to secure something in Florida in late May. We had to get off at Gulf Shores and enter Florida on a State Hwy where there were no police. On top of that, most things in Destin were still shut down, although many were just opening back up

I think presidents have a lot more bureaucracy to overcome than state governors. That being said, both men hedged to the extent they could just in case the medical community was right (and telling the truth, in retrospect). They both had the right instincts which is what matters to me. They operated on different timetables and scales of government though.

Nobody now, much less in 2024, give 2 shits about Covid response.

1- Trump never had the power to do that and he never shut down any state. No one can produce an order from his shutting down a state.
2- It why several states (South Dakota for example) never issued a stay at home order nor shut down at all. There were 7 states who never issued a stay at home order. FL was not one of those 7.
The truth is:
1- There was a virus called Covid.
2- It did kill people.
3- and we did not know what the out come would be.
4- So the states did what they felt was needed and the Federal Gov did too.
But early in April, Trump called for states to begin the reopen process. Dem states refused... Most Red states began the process.
