When I first started running / working out I drank diet drinks and ate artificial sweeteners when I had the opportunity.

I barely lost any weight for 3 months, until I cut out all artificial sweeteners and went only things with sugar, this even included corn syrup - if it sweetened, it needed to have calories.

Within 1 month I had lost 5 pounds. Within 3 I had lost 15. This was while increasing my caloric intake. It's counter intuitive, and I know some people who are diabetic have no other choice, but I found it quite interesting with my own experience.

Is erythritol an artificial sweetener? I don't think it is, necessarily. I know for sure the human body produces a good bit endogenously.

I will wait to see some actual peer review on this, and will not be surprised if it's smoke and mirrors.
