First time I've time I got to see us play in person since at A&M in '21. Disappointed that we lost but still cool to see my school play in person.

Park was nice. Weather went from kinda cool to comfortable during the game.

Hats of to the Iowa starter. Seemed liked everyone walked or struck-out. Heck, not sure how many times we even made contact.

Lows:
- Cooper had a bad game. I think he'll get another chance to start but if that goes south then I expect CJJ to look at other options.
- Jobert bad misplay in RF. Scored as a hit but cost us two runs.
- Jared looked really bad at the plate.
- Left Hellmers in 1 batter too many. Think it 2 outs and 0-2 count and they scored 4 runs in the 8th.

Positives
- Dylan Crews
- Dugas leading-off
- Jordan made some good plays at SS and Jared made some nice plays at 1B filling in for Tre.

I have zero worries of any sort with this team going forward.

They were going to lose to someone they shouldn't have at some point, but man... that was ugly. Scoring only 4 runs with 13 free bases, with what is supposed to be a great lineup, is a pretty epic disappointment. It would be nice to see them settle in and start showing more than just glimpses of their potential at the plate.

The pitching was bad, but to be honest, none of the pitchers we used today are guys I expected a lot out of coming into the season. Obviously the coaches felt Cooper improved enough to give him a shot at starter, and I'm sure he has improved, but I just have a difficult time believing he's going to stick as a starter. We need Hurd to get right and get into this weekend rotation.

I believe it was just a hiccup. Cooper will eventually be one of our best relievers but the concerning thing to me was the lack of plate discipline. Brecht is a great pitcher but he should have had 15 walks had our hitters not swung at all of his crap. CJJ will coach this team up correctly and we will be fine. I’m hoping Little or Hurd step up to be weekend starters. Geaux Tigers!

This team will struggle with Friday night starters due to so many freshmen who are “swing and miss” at this stage. A lot of unproductive outs!
I know, it’s early

The last game I attended was the Texas game last year at Minute Maid. We looked very similar yesterday, it was uncanny the parallels between those two games.

It looked like a lower end d1 team out there. Stupid mistakes by the catcher, outfielders misjudging balls, infielders not able to field, and batters looking lost at the plate all game. Either the team went out that night before or they just are not disciplined at all. I’ll get a ton of downvotes but that is reality

We kept swinging at balls in the dirt. Mostly because our kids wanted experience hitting off of an ace. Would rather them get walks.

Lots to be learned from that loss. Gorilla ball can be fun but base hits win games. Iowa schooled a much more talented team by simply playing basic baseball.

I swear baseball brings out the worst takes from fans every single year.

This year the takes will be all time bad after every loss because of the level of expectation.

Iowa walked 9 hitters, hit 4 more, committed the same number of errors as lsu, hit 3 homers to lsu’s 0, and had 12 of their own batters strikeout……so i dont get this take

This is a terrible take. It’s a 56 game regular season, there are going to be duds. Get over it the team is going to be fine. Iowa hit 3 HRs to LSU 0. Iowa gave up 13 free passes we just didn’t cash them in. There are going to be games where that happens it’s baseball.

I was at the game and they swung at some bad pitches because everyone was falling behind in the count because they were leaving the bat on their shoulders and taking. I don’t know how many first pitch fastballs I saw that were called for strikes and then they would fall behind because they wouldn’t swing at an off speed pitch and then they found themselves 0-2, 1-2 and in a pitchers count.

What I saw Iowa do in the eighth was get 4 consecutive hits and those batters saw 5 pitches total, 3/4 jumped on first pitch fastball. Iowa was aggressive at the plate and LSU looked absolutely lost and not aggressive.

Jared didn’t pick a throw and they scored a run.
