I was there as well. Getting dominated by Brecht early in the year and on a cool day doesn't concern me. This dude was sitting 98 and touched 101. His slider was 88 and nasty. Him and Dollander will probably be the best pitchers we see all year.

I was disappointed in how the little lefty dominated us. He was 90-92 with a decent change but there will literally be 2-3 of him on every SEC roster.

I'm not worried about guys like White, who looked really bad at the plate against Brecht. I'm not as sure about Pearson/Jones/Kling. Jones could not have looked more overmatched yesterday until his last AB. He has unreal power and hopefully he'll grow at the plate as the pitching continues to improve. If not, Beloso will be out there soon imo.

Kling has looked overmatched at the plate all year so far.I think the best he can hope for is a platoon situation with Jobert.

Neal actually had some good swings yesterday and he must've blocked up 1000 pitches on defense! There's no real difference between him/Millazo on defense that I can see.

I'm not sure what to make of Pearson. He looks like a guy that has zero confidence at the plate right now. I really expected him to blow up this year and he still may. I think OF/DH spots other than Crews, are up in the air still IMO. They also seem to like Paul, so we may see him get some mid-week run.

Cooper is a reliever. His stuff doesn't play up enough to go multiple innings against good teams without giving up a big inning or 2. He is a good 2-3 inning option as a reliever IMO. We'll see. The good news is that there's several potential options with better stuff if one steps up consistently.

Sam Houston is legit and will beat them today if they don't bring their "A" games. Looking for a nice bounce-back today! We need Shores to give us at least 5 innings. I know they would like to hold some pen arms out today for Tues. but they better swing it better or this one will be tough.

LSU football also agrees with this statement.

I think he was just comparing Iowa’s 16 hits as opposed to our 4 hits. LSU was given so many free bases that we only needed a few base hits or productive at bats to stay in the game and we couldn’t get them when we needed them.

Iowa kicked our asses yesterday and we deserved it.
15 men left on using a mid relief as a starter and that happens.
We still are who we say we are.
No worries Bubba.

Not having Morgan in there in the 4 or 5 hole really hurt yesterday. The approach was pretty simple. Pitch around the top and make the young guys beat you. They didn’t. Pearson needs a slump buster is the worst way. He’s pressing and it shows

Iowa walked 9 hitters, hit 4 more, committed the same number of errors as lsu, hit 3 homers to lsu’s 0, and had 12 of their own batters strikeout……so i dont get this take

And scored how many runs with 2 outs and more so batters with 2 strikes? Baseball is a game of good fortune at times as well

Pearson needs to ride the pine until he finds his rhythm again. Sophomore slump in the worst way.

My husband said the same thing. He was wondering if they went out the night before. Too many mental mistakes.

That’s just baseball. Sometimes you get whooped. LSU got whooped.

Clearly overmatched by Brecht’s slider. Only Crews looked like a worthy adversary at the plate. Dugas looked ok. Neal looked the best at the plate of the freshmen vs Brecht.

I was amazed that LSU hitters didn’t just ignore the fastball. Then again…even sitting on the slider probably wouldn’t have mattered anyway. Nasty pitch.
