Let's lay it all out here. There aren't a whole lot of folks who really care about LSU basketball anymore when all is said and done.

yeah people come here and rant and rave about the state of the team but I can tell you as a lifelong LSU basketball fan that the number of folks truly invested and who truly care is minimal relatively speaking.

But I care! I've been fully invested since 1973 and I've seen alot of bad basketball teams here.

Dale's teams year 2-4 and his last four years were awful.

Brady's first year and TJ's years 2 and 3 were really bad.

Johnny's team with Ben Simmons was a national embarrassment and his team the next year was pathetic.

I've seen a lot of bad basketball in that time.

So as to whether this is the worst, it's all relative to me. I'll say this - I've seen less talented teams do better. And I'm disgusted by what I saw today.

It’s seems difficult to actually lose 14 consecutive games. I don’t see how it gets better next season. How do you sell this program going forward ?

I think Matt has given up on this season. The players have to be disappointed with nothing left to play for.

Updated with current loss.

Double digit losing streaks in LSU history:

1966 - Frank Truitt (6-20) - 14 games
1967 - Press Maravich (3-23) - 14 games
1998 - John Brady (9-18) - 12 games
2010 - Trent Johnson (11-20) - 12 games
2011 - Trent Johnson (11-21) - 10 games
2017 - Johnny Jones (10-21) - 15 games.

Dale Brown had 9 game losing streaks twice, in 1994 and 1997.

Current
2023 - Matt McMahon (12-15) - 14 games

Good post, man.

I could go through some of those years, but what's most disappointing is not having a modicum of hope. Do we have any now?

Can LSU opt out of SEC tournament if not automatically excluded being one of worst two teams? It’s over.

You can thank Dick Vitale for the demise of LSU basketball.

and how do you go from 12-1 with a victory against Arkansas at the beginning of SEC play to 12-14 with no SEC wins thereafter, how could a team regress this significantly?

Because this team isn't very good.....no shooters, etc.

Pretty pathetic…

Per Cam Hayes on USCe shooting lights out…
“They were wide open. No contest, no defender around them … just a normal jump shot.”

Yikes…and thank God for baseball.

going off kenpom ratings, the worst LSU team (since the ratings started in 2002) was definitely 2011
