The lawsuit filed yesterday to have the registrar move dead people and people who no longer live in New Orleans from "active" status would significantly reduce the number of signatures needed.

Which means they're close but not quite there.

But would probably be there once the rolls are updated.

Its funny how citizens have to sue the registrars to do their job they are being paid to do when it comes to upkeeping voter rolls. Almost like they are intentionally keeping names on it for a reason...

I could have given you an update on its conclusion back when it started. Latoya is your mayor, and she will serve out her term.

I think they're there, but these things always need cushion because of challenges.

No shite.

The audacity of us expecting them to do their job.

Dont forget that sack of shite Kyle Ardoin not doing his job at the state level by leading the charge to clean up our voter rolls. That's HIS fricking job, which he isn't doing. It takes a recall effort (which he didn't cooperate with) to find the discrepancies.

He should be recalled himself.

I’m not on the inside, but I can tell you with certainty that she will not be recalled.

A recall he didn't cooperate with.

No, he didn't cooperate with the recall effort - at all.

But then when he started to feel some heat, the Dominion lap-dog made a big announcement just a few days ago saying that "they've found about 17,000 names on the voter rolls in Orleans that are not legitimate."

Names of those who have either moved or died.

Then a few days later we learn that the number is at least twice that.

(Even with that, we're still far from the real number. No word yet on those that are absolutely fraudulent as what went on when A.C.O.R.N. was in its heyday here and doing what it wanted with no worry of being held accountable.)

Having to address this is what Ardoin was hoping he could avoid.

He thought he could get away with not being seen publicly confronting Registrar Sandra Wilson on her lazy, do-nothing attitude toward the voter rolls.

But that's the attitude of just about every other politician around the state toward Orleans: just let them do what they want.

As of last week they needed 1000 signatures to reach the requirement.

However, a portion of signatures are always challenged and struck, so you really need several thousand more than the goal.

Hence the lawsuit to clean up the registry.

Dead people cannot be removed from the rolls as they would be disenfranchised since they are still 'active' voters, they've voted in every election since passing.

It is a good strategy, with the bonus of trying to clean up Orleans voter rolls....but I doubt anything comes of this. I can see a judge ruling, "you should have cleaned up the rolls first, before recalling."
