Just downloaded this free upgrade on my PS5 and it is what i have been waiting for. Able to use the power of the PS5.

Love this game but being limited to 9 squares never allowed me space to make the cities i wanted. Now with 25 squares i can finally buy all the expansion DLCs and have fun.

25??? If you completely fill 25 squares I would imagine your console or PC would generate enough heat for our entire house.

Didn't realize this was on deck let alone coming out. I always got frustrated by the 9 squares as well. I can sink so many hours into this game. I will be doing some city planning this weekend.

Can you use mods and creator content from the workshop on the PS5 or Steam Deck?

I have this game on PC and it's only worth playing with mods and the workshop. I like watching the really good people play this game. Big fan of City Planner Plays on youtube.

I not creative or good enough to make a really nice city. I toy around with it, but I get annoyed that I can't lay out cities very well...

You can spend years on just one city if you really get into it and are very very detailed. You can spend hours on one interchange with all the mods for traffick marking, landscaping, and other workshop assets.

I think that's part of my problem... I want to be really detailed, but just suck and lose patience.

If you grew up on SimCity, what's the learning curve like for this game? I love games like this. But, just going by reviews, it sounds like things like managing traffic are the same nightmare that they were on SimCity.

Biffa and Two Dollars Twenty are my next favorites.

Mainly watch CPP though because I like his voice and stories he makes up for his cities. CPP also adds lots of knowledge on real life cities and how they grow and decisions cities make for expansion or repurposing areas. Pretty interesting.

I also sometimes watch the hyper realistic builds. Those really annoy me because I'll never come close to being able to do that stuff..

It's enjoyable but you really need to be solid and planning for the future instead of just building what you need now.

I haven't played any modern SimCity, but the way this game plays is you can pick this up, make a decently successful first city that gets bogged down once it starts to scale just because you won't realize the intricacies they have in this game. Your traffic becomes an abomination.

Then your second time around you do a lot better and manage traffic better but you'll find out that your zones don't have the ready access they need, so will probably give it a third go.

On the third go you'll get pretty big and then realize how much the education level in each part of town matters and you'll keep that in mind when you're planning.

Once you figure all that out, your fourth city will be where you start to really fine tune traffic patterns and public transit.

I've been playing the Steam version for awhile now and have always loved this game.

I just really really hate how my citizens always get sick or the abandoned buildings that I can never seem to keep under control.

The cities that some of these Youtubers build are unreal.

Guess it's time for me to start up another city planning to be creative and flavorful only to end up making a bunch of squares again.

The game requires creativity. Something I have very little of..

Reading all the responses here are exactly how I feel. Cool game but I am not creative or patient enough for it.

Not really answering your question but as a person who never played SimCity, I simply could not figure out how to play Cities Skyline.

Granted, I wasn't totally dialed in as it was for my 10 year old kid at the time who wanted to play it. But I just had to try to YouTube every single thing, and it just got annoying real quick. Thankfully he was annoyed to so we gave up on it.

This is the way. Either that or gridlock.

I swear I always have the same layouts with every new city I make. Start off with low residential grids next to low commercial. Have a major road that can take you from there to the corner of the map for the industrial area. Then back along a river or waterway is the high commercial/office with the high residential just north of it. Then an airport far away linked in another corner. Rinse repeat

Then I check out the cities on youtube and all the roads and city layouts are odd shaped with every form of transportation imaginable.

The way traffic works you're kinda forced to unless you get creative with public transportation methods. If you don't care about growth obviously it doesn't matter and you can do whatever you want, but if you want a city that grows there are just certain rules you have to adhere to.
