I rode in Hercules for six years. There was a fight between krewe members on the float or a krewe member with a crowd member every year. It was awesome.
One guy on the float had a vendetta list every year. He knew exactly where the person(s) who wronged him were going to be and when we got close, him and his float buddies would fire full bags of beads at this dudes' sworn enemies. You had to be there, but it was funny as hell.

All the cities down south should be avoided on parade days.
But I wanna point out that Mardi Gras in Mamou > Mardi Gras everywhere else.

I’m in sales in south La. With Mardi Gras Tuesday, what cities should I stay away from these two days in order not to caught up stuck in traffic somewhere? New Orleans is the obvious. Anyone else have major parades?
Who works this Monday and Tuesday? Lol

You understand you’re off, right? Even if the corporate office doesn’t recognize Mardi Gras (they never do) you can’t accomplish much the first half of next week.

The incident I was talking about happened downtown near the Balcony. They charged one guy for attempted 2nd degree Murder.
From HPD:
quote:
On February 11th, 2023 at approximately 12:22am officers were stationed in front of the Balcony bar located at 7834 Main Street during the Hercules parade. After the conclusion of the parade officers were monitoring the crowd while it was dispersing when an altercation took place.
The investigation revealed that the victim was walking down the stairs as the suspect identified as Parker Allen was walking up. The two of them had an exchange of words and the suspect struck the victim causing him to fall down the stairs. The suspect then ran down the stairs and straddled the unconscious victim and brutally beat him in the head along with a second victim that had also fallen to the ground. As the officer quickly approached and pulled Allen off of the victim he was able push away from the officer and jumped back onto the victim and again started punching him in the head.
The suspect was the taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
Officers then observed that the victim whom was found to be a 43 year old male bleeding and suffering from head trauma. The victim was then transported to a local medical facility with what was considered life threatening injuries to his head. At the present time the victim is recovering from his injuries and has since been released from the hospital.
As a result the suspect Parker Allen was arrested for Simple Battery and one count of Attempted second Degree Murder.

Especially this week, it is the perfect storm of holiday time.
Monday President’s Day - Banks, Stock Markets, and Federal Government closed
Tuesday Mardi Gras Day - Louisiana Holiday state and local governments closed, most schools are closed Monday-Wednesday and some all week
That is why the NFL should consider moving the Super Bowl to President’s Day weekend and most can get their Monday off.
