This is the truth. There’s no getting around it either. The right has to be wholly unified in 2024 or it is over nationally. You’ll see elections swing to the dems that never would’ve before. California will run things (I’d argue that we already have tremendous influence) without question and everything that many of you openly mock will be coming to your state. I was watching Bill Maher and Paul Begala (idiot) was stating that Trump has 30-35% of the base locked in and the rest will split the remaining vote in the primary.
I think this is true....Haley said she would not run if Trump ran. Then a few weeks later Haley made a statement that Haley said that Trump told her she should run.
I think the plan has been and will continue to be to flood the field. As the OP said Trump probably will always have 35-40% of the GOP Base. So he needs multiple people to chip away shares of the 60%. It doesn't matter how large or small.
If Pence gets 5% and Haley gets 4% and two others take 3% each then it lowers what Desantis can get.
