The vocals have been live for the artists who choose them to be.

wasn't it Whitney Houston that was either so drunk/high or stupid to realize she was supposed to be lip synching for one of the SBs? or maybe it was the other way around, she thought it was supposed to be a pre-recorded track and didn't realize she was supposed to be singing?

I turned the volume on the TV off and had a beer.

Would have been cool if Stapleton got a song in at half

I watched it ... For the most part, to me, it was cringe. But I was amazed at the crowd reaction. Was the cheering pipped in?

That's the same reaction I had when it was over... I was like WTF, those people were cheering for that shite?

I presume that's why a lot of potentially awesome halftime shows never come to fruition.

Bingo....

They probably get the contract and are like, background tracks, frick that...

Choice of the artist. MOst do, others don't.

Lady Gaga didn't use prerecorded lyrics. The NFL prefers it, and most of the instruments are prerecorded but not all singing performances are.

Gotta say, I was pretty surprised to see people actually singing live on Miley’s New Years thing. I feel like I haven’t seen any musical act actually sing on tv in forever.

Miley doesn't do the lip sync thing, so anything she puts on is going to be actual live performances.

I believe she submitted a prerecorded track but decided to wing it.

Lady Gaga and The Weeknd did NOT lipsync.

People really don't appreciate how well that dude can sing live b/c he's written off as a pop/rap star.

The Weeknd's Super Bowl halftime made me more than a casual fan. Saw him at Metlife last year, he puts on a good show.

That's another pop tart that can actually sing very well.

Probably why the Super Bowl uses a lot of washed up acts.

There's a few of them out there. Miley, Ariana, Dua, Taylor, Doja. I'm a Rihanna fan but honestly, she's a good singer, not great. Her studio stuff easily surpasses anything she does live.

I thought the floating stages were really cool. Otherwise, it was mediocre at best. I think there have been 3 or 4 really great halftime shows and our expectations are too high. Thus, we are routinely let down by the show.

My thoughts exactly.

Had to ask myself “what did I just see” when she placed her hand in her crotch then proceeded to transition her hand to her nose/mouth area

Halftime is beer run time, the halftime shows aren't for dudes.

NFL knows that the Super Bowl is the time to capture new fans, they're definitely after women.
