Did John Corbello go on to play professionally?

He was a great kicker at LSU. I can’t find any info on him after his time with the Tigers. He was starting kicker as a Freshman and would never relinquish that role until his eligibility ran out in 2002. One of my favorite LSU players.

He has a son named Aidan that is also a kicker. He just wrapped up his HS career at Jesuit HS. Not sure if he’s on his way to play college ball.

One of the top placekickers in LSU history … Ranked second in LSU history with 50 career field goals and fourth in school history with 279 points … The 279 career points ranked second among kickers in LSU history … Holds the LSU record for PATs with 129, breaking the previous mark of 109 held by David Browndyke … His 50 field goals ranks second to Browndyke’s 61.
We’ll call it well above average for LSU kickers.

Corbello was good, but his kicks weren't always things of beauty.
I believe it was the SEC Championship Game where Verne said one of his FGs "honked" as it went through.

I used to think his xp were so ugly, it looked like he was going to miss them.

He has a career fg percentage of 64.9%

I can’t find any good videos, funny how old that time period looks on YouTube. I was in grad school when he was a freshman and sophomore, I just don’t remember any of his kicks.
I watch so many kick now a days…kids train like mad compared to when John was in high school.

No. He was a serious Heisman candidate, and pro teams back then still believed in the Heisman curse.

He was the kicker when I was a Freshman and I just researched him a bit…this was on Tigerdroppings:

Hallman was definitely not a ‘players’ coach’ , to say the least.. i had a friend who was buried on the depth chart at kicker behind Pedro Suarez.. he told a story about how Hallman hated the fact that Suarez wore a bandana on his head, so one day Hallman grabbed the bandana off Suarez’ head at practice, pulled down his pants and wiped his own arse with it, then handed it back to Suarez... Why wouldnt players like Mawae have gravitated to a coach like that?? /s
If that’s true, holy shite.

John works in construction, or at least he did after college.

64% ain't good by today's standards.

Kids today have immense advantages over kickers of old. Early coaching being the big one.
