He was pretty shitty overall. 70% his last year but barely above 50% avg his two season prior. They made T-shirt’s so people assume he was great. He wasn’t.

His son kicks for Jesuit, and I think is kicking in college next year. Memphis, I think.

Here’s a podcast where they talk about John and Aiden

Yea, he has an offer from there, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he got others. Tulane maybe.

I believe it was the SEC Championship Game where Verne said one of his FGs "honked" as it went through.

That thing was spinning sideways, but right down the middle!

Kids today have immense advantages over kickers of old. Early coaching being the big one.

We are not talking about a kicker “of old”, and 64% sucked in 2000, too.

Lots of college kickers back then never had a kicking coach until college. Now, that’s just not the case.

He beat out everyone else wanting to kick at LSU, so he clearly didn’t suck.

Matt Huerkamp. I met him at a fan day as a nine year old. He was super nice to me.

ETA: I did some research and John Corbello tried out for the Saints in 2003 and 2004, but didn’t get an offer from them and didn’t try out with any other teams. He had no interest in kicking for Canadian teams. He also tried out for the Saints a third and final time when John Carney got injured, but Garrett Hartley beat him out for the job, and GH5 would go on to win the 2009 NFCCG and become the only kicker in history to kick three 40-plus yard FGs in a Super Bowl. So Corbello can’t be too upset about that.
