I would think LSU would totally be on board with this. You see players getting hit in the box and hurt sliding into bases. There are to many other good options at DH.

An afterthought, did anyone else notice the new Tony Chachere's ad behind home plate? It appears to be backlit and covers the entire wall.

This was my first scrimmage to see live this spring. Watched a lot of them in the fall.
First four pitchers to go today looked good (Little, Shores, Edwards, Collins)
This pitching staff is so deep.
It has become pretty clear that these are the guys in contention to start- Skenes, Taylor, Floyd, Hurd, Little, Shores.
Cooper, Ackenhausen, and Herring are likely the 3 primary lefties out of the pen. Primeaux may get some innings here and there. Don't see Bronzini getting meaningful action this year.
As for righties in relief you have Edwards, Hellmers, Money, Moffett, Dutton, and Bucknam.
Collins is going to be a high leverage guy, as will at least one of the potential starters (maybe Taylor).
Stock up- Jared Jones (looks more comfortable at the plate this spring)
Stock down- Zeb Ruddell (he was hot as a firecracker parts of the fall but cooled off late and has really struggled so far this spring).

Well jay has already said skenes is the Friday night guy so it’s the rest of those guys fighting for Saturday Sunday and midweek

Oh I don’t really have a problem with it but I’d be lying if I claimed I wasn’t a little excited to see our Ace hitting dingers.

the rest of those guys fighting for Saturday Sunday and midweek
Friday
Skenes 5 innings; Taylor 4 innings
Saturday
Hurd 5 innings; Shores 4 innings
Sunday
Floyd 5 innings; Little 4 innings
You can still use Collins and edwards and moffet if/when necessary in high leverage spots if someone gets in a tough spot. But it keeps all starters ready. Point being, not sure we have a midweek “starter.”

I think you’ll still use one of those guys in the midweek. We’re going to need to keep the true bullpen guys fresh too not to mention developing them.
I think it’ll look more like
Skenes/Taylor Friday
Hurd/Shores Saturday
Floyd/bullpen Sunday
Little/bullpen midweek.

Shores seems like a good candidate for a few midweek starts. Being a freshmen and all. Get that confidence up

I can see that. Little seems to be 6th guy and isn’t quite there yet either. Too many walks.

Either works. I’m not so much stuck on the names as I am the philosophy.

Very possible. Wonder if Jay will want him logging high leverage weekend innings though. Trying to figure who the 8 main arms they roll with is a fun game and also there will be incredibly talented arms that can’t get mound time
My prediction of top 8
Skenes, Hurd, Floyd, Taylor, Little, Collins, Cooper (L), Shores, Herring (L)

I think we’ll only need 4-5 of those names some weekends, with starters getting deeper and/or using other guys bc of the game flow (for example, Skenes goes 7 and comes out with a 6 run lead so you throw Edwards 2 innings to keep others available for the next day). This will leave you heading into a Tuesday game with, for example, Shores and/or Little needing work. That’s when I think you’ll see him use them as a true starter and let them go as long as they can. You have enough good arms now to not be overly concerned with good, extendable arms available again by the weekend.

The combinations are pretty vast. I just assumed Shores and Little would start midweek games. I'm sure Wes and Jay are giddy over what they have to work with.
I'm not quite as high on Moffett for this season, but maybe he gets some midweek starts. I think he is a work in progress right now.
Maybe he comes along quicker than I expect, but I haven't seen enough control from him to close tight games late. He's looked like Nuke LaLoosh when I've watched him.

Will be more fluid for sure. And will likely morph into a bullpen with more traditional roles I would think

Jones and Jobert have been good too! That DH spot will interesting!
We need to get about 13 bats in the lineup
This is so different from the CPM years when we had about five good bats. NIL, and a younger, more energetic coach, have sure changed things.

Looking forward to seeing how he is going to utilize Jones, Jobert, and Beloso and that battle at DH. I am also wondering how much rope he is gonna give Pearson. He is not hitting yet like he did last year.

I guess there are just too many good options to risk your Friday night ace getting hurt trying to hit
I’m not sure that’s the case. You know what Skenes brings to the table as a hitter. One of the biggest question marks is who DHs when he’s pitching or on a rest day. Probably why you see a ton of guys in the thick of that battle getting ABs the last few scrimmages.

We know what Crews brings to the table too but he still needs preseason swings and Skenes just isn’t getting them. If Jay planned on relying on him then he would be getting swings.
